    Default Sailor nibs

anyone have any opinions or insight on the differences between sailors 14k and 21k nibs? It seems that the same exact pen can sell for almost $100 more, simply with the extra 7 karats.

Which is partially the root of my question. Must manufacturers dont offer 14k vs 21k for the same exact pen. It suggests that they're different in a meaningful way. But if the nibs do in fact perform, feel, and write the same and look identical, it would only make sense to go for the 14k 1911.

I guess the meaningful difference is that the 21K is more expensive and much less common. Otherwise, 14K is generally considered the ideal alloy for fountain pen nibs, and in fact better than 18K when balancing between corrosion resistance and performance.
