    Talking Pelikan M205 Blue Demonstrator

So I adore Pelikans, pretty much everyone I've ever held. I regularly troll eBay for used Pelikans that aren't getting lots of interest in the hopes of a good deal.

I came across one this last week with ZERO bids. The pen was a Pelikan M205 blue demonstrator. Blue is my favorite color. With just hours to go there were zero bids. Now the price the seller was asking was the new price for the pen, but here's the thing, it had two nibs. The M steel nib it came with, AND a 14k old style M400 M nib ground to an italic. So basically that nib was FREE.

I put in the minimum bid and waited. No one else bid, I won it for the original M205 cost + shipping. It arrived today, a couple days ahead of estimate. Here she is:

This is my first Pelikan demonstrator. Pelikan doesn't waste any engineering do they? Now that I can SEE how close the nib comes to the top of the caps I have a great deal more respect for German quality control tolerances. Rather nerve wracking, but the nib does not in fact touch the top of the cap.

The pen itself is everything I expect from Pelikan. Works flawlessly, finish is perfect. Pen looks basically brand new. The steel M nib I think IS brand new, still in a plastic nib container the sort extra nibs from places like Richard Binder arrive in. I'm thinking it is what the gold italic came in? Anyway, the italic nib is definitely a SHARP italic, which isn't ideal for my hand, I rotate my nibs a bit and write mostly with obliques so this one catches the paper on me badly. I'll have Pendleton butter line and maybe even oblique it when I meet up with him at the Dallas pen show (I've got a list of pens that need tuning!)

VERY happy I jumped on this one. This is no sumgue (how do you even spell that?), but I'm happy with what I paid! Beautiful pen, makes me want more demonstrators and I really like the silver trim of the 205. I'm contemplating having Richard make me an oblique italic from one of his uncoated steel nibs so I have a nib that matches the trim.

It is a lovely pen. That blue color is so calming, especially with dark blue ink sloshing around in the barrel!

That is one I want to get eventually. I think it would look good with the black nib from my M100 in it.

It's over on this thread. http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread....hing-ballpoint
I purchased the Ballpoint/Fountain pen set. I have seen the M100, by itself, on eBay listed a few times.

Very cool, I've seen white 100s on ebay but never with a black nib!
