The only pen non-peace, turmoil if you will, in my life at the moment is deciding which of three pens is my absolute favourite.

I think I am actually approaching it. Ink peace is a whole other issue entirely

I don't believe I have any kind of peace. I don't really aspire to peace. It happens to be true that my period of steady pen acquisition ended in 2012, but I am still getting excited on eBay and over the past decade I seem to have bought some pens.

I thought I had pen peace with the arrival of a Sailor PGS Shikiori Grateful Crane, a lovely light blue pen. And in a way, I do have pen peace. It's just beautiful. But then I found other pens I wanted, and there are more pens coming out that I know I will want. I'm okay with that.

Good thing I'm okay with that. Today (Aug 16) Endless Pens offered a set of six Preppy Wa pens at a great price ($30 for all six), so I had to order that and then I just had to make the minimum to get free shipping so I ordered an Aurora (I like Auroras) as well. And now I know what it is to "win" (as opposed to just be the highest bidder) an auction on Ebay. I got an antique/vintage Conklin on my wishlist at a price I found acceptable in a condition I found acceptable. That's a "win" to me.

Update, no desire for more pens or different inks. Using one of two Parker 51's circa 1942 for daily use is enough and I feed them generous quanities of Waterman Serenity Blue.

I really don't have pen peace... more like an uneasy ceasefire with an occasional skirmish.

I guess I just don't see "pen peace" as being equivalent to not wanting or buying more pens.

To me, if I don't want or don't buy anymore pens, that's not pen "peace", that's pen (hobby) "the end".

Pen peace to me, means I am content with what I have, enjoy using them, but still get excited when something new (to me) comes up on the radar. In this sense, I have been in this mode for quite a while now.

I’ll accept your definition. It’s not the end, but I’m content. Is that okay?

I'm completely content. I'll be buying lots of pens and selling most of them. That's okay. I get to handle them, study them, restore them and write about them. What could be better? There will, of course, be the occasional pen that I need to keep but that's okay too. It's not like I'm getting myself into a state of anxiety about some pen that I absolutely must have. It's just that one of the many I buy suits my hand so well that I want to keep it.

There was a time, quite a while ago, that I had a hankering for this pen or that. I got some of them, didn't get others. The need passes.

You and Deb have good pens. If ordering from the US weren’t such a gamble, I might have less pen peace….lol!!

Okay. I give up. If I see yet another pen I like, I consider buying it. Often I do buy it. If I'm stressed, I go looking for more pens to buy. At least I don't collect classic cars...

Today, I had pen joy eruption! I knee-jerked posted about it at FPN, so I'll just -- hold on, I'll take another picture.

    IMG_20210907_153415620_resize_76.jpg

This is a Nakaya Piccolo Cigar, kuro-tamenuri, inked with Platinum Carbon Black.

It has a Pilot #15 PO nib and feed.

All this time of my wishing for the unattainable -- a Pilot PO nib in a Nakaya Piccolo (and it's been at least two-and-a-half years since I bought the two Pilots so I could have that PO nib in an 823), my grail has been attainable right under my nose. Crazy.

It was the #15. All this time, the #15 nib AND feed -- and it fit like the glass slipper on Cinderella's foot.

I'm not going to sell off all of my pens (laughs), not even going to de-ink the current pens for September (although I might switch up some inks, which was highly likely anyway, always is), but when I leave the apartment, I'll carry only ONE PEN!

(It isn't unprecedented to carry only one pen around, but to carry a Piccolo with a Pilot PO nib? Yeah. I feel like I won something today.)

    Ah, Lisa, I was about to offer you my P66 with a Nagahara needlepoint, but it looks like you've achieved your PO Nakaya dream already. {if you still want to try the P66 PM me}

After Ruth over at fpn asked me what was it about the PO nib I liked so much, I realized that I prefer Pilot nibs in general. Well, the 14kt, EF, F, PO, and Falcon SEF and F.

There's something about these Pilot nibs that I can't explain, but they're my favorite. Maybe it's because I've been using one of the PO nibs regularly for nearly six years, and the line is still the same (consistency!).

But the PO nib, when used in reverse, is what I call a faux fude. It takes practice to produce my usual handwriting (and I haven't taken the time to practice, so my handwriting in "faux-fude" mode looks shaky), but I like that I have that versatility in one nib, one pen.

Thanks, David. Three days ago, I'd have been sorely tempted to buy another pen, haha, cos I have been interested in the Nagahara needlepoint.

Also, I'd be able to put my second Pilot #10 PO nib in the P66, hahaha (if the Nagahara needlepoint didn't compete). But now... well, yesterday, for a lark, I asked myself, What if I sold my other Nakayas?

I laughed and laughed. Cos absurd. I can put Pilot #15 nibs in those!

    I appreciate your offer.

P.S. What is it about this pen or nib that compels you to sell it? What's your opinion of the Nagahara needlepoint?

I find the needlepoint suits my writing very well, and I enjoy using it. The pen itself though is a little too small to be comfortable unless I make conscious effort to settle it in my hand a certain way. That distracts me from the writing experience. In all likelihood I will get a second Model 20 (which is my favourite of their designs) with another needlepoint (or this one swapped in).

The P66 I have is a limited edition in a Brooks resin.

ps: it would have been a gift, not a sale.
