    Sailor Kenshin,

    Sir,

    I have a few of AK's pens.

Always wished I had bought a few others in the past

The images are not of pens that I own, I wished

Lastly, The one I always wanted the most ( 2nd image )

Spent the last 7 years trying to trace it, it is not in Europe

I know and like Ariel. The machinery he uses is old Parker equipment from their Argentine plant. He's a skilled craftsman, very creative, but having had to work on many of them I must say that the piece-to-piece dimensional consistency is lacking, largely because of the age of the machinery.

Howard made some very nice Parker 51 replicas in hard rubber and acrylics. Much more consistent in their execution because they were made on CNC lathes instead of a well worn manual lathe.

Howard Levy's ripple-pattern ebonite 51s are exceptional. I'm now sorry to have passed on a couple of them a decade ago. I have three of Ariel Kullock's 51s and their colors are beautiful. Both pen makers are kind gentlemen.

Since we are sharing pictures, here are my custom 51's. All acrylics that I know of except for one Ebonite. If they have matching caps I pictured them with it.

Some of these I pieced together from various Kullock pieces. Pen Parts Store on Ebay has been my source for many Kullock pieces.

My lathe started life in the Navy in the 50s. It still has less that a thou in runout across the ways and I’ve moved it multiple times. Having done far to much machining that I should not have had to do for the evil Physics experiments, I just don’t accept age of the tools as an excuse for poor dimensional tolerances.

    Linkinyeah,

What wonderful pens, I particularly liked two of the darker ones.

Ever seen anything like them before.

Do have you any idea who made them.

    Many thanks

First one you pointed out to the left is Ebonite, second is acrylic. I believe they are both Kullock, but I can only be certain on the second one.

I have another Kullock Double Jewel Blue Demonstrator that is not pictured. It has been with Brad Torelli for work on the blind cap for over a year and I fear that I may never see it again!

I have one of the Bexley ebonite 51s and it's a joy. Feels terrific in the hand and the finish is great.

I also have several Kullocks some acquired as complete pens and others as parts. The Vac demonstrator is the mostest fun to watch doing its thing. :-)

    amk,

Any chance of some images of your P51 Bexley ebonite please.

    Linkinyeah,

The second pen borders on art..........clearly Ariel is a magican - I thought that the effect is staggering.

    Ron Z,

    Sir,

Read your comments with great interest.

At some later in this post I would wish your further comments.

Bought alot of Ariel’s shells etc via penpartsstore, dealt personally with Michelle.

A seriously nice person but hardly organised

My objective was look at a cross section of what Ariel made.

Hoods, Barrels, Caps, Cap jewels et al

My expectation of finish was about 80% given what he was working with.

Most were excellent, I was very surprised and pleased.

Only had 3 issues, a Palm S/S barrel and 2 P51Vac orange plugs that were inserted.

All in all I was very impressed.

Clearly he is a remarkable person.

    Many thanks

Nb – I do not own a Parker 51 Bexley, the point of this post was ask the experts here whether it was worth buying one.

I am not an expert, but I do like custom P51s. I have some by Ariel Kullock, as well as Brad Torelli, Ralph Prather, and Bexley. I like them all! I would definitely recommend a custom P51 but you may feel differently.

    da vinci,

Is it possible please to take some images of the pens that you have mentioned.

‘ Brad Torelli, Ralph Prather, and Bexley ‘

I would really like to look at them.

    pajaro,

It is interesting that you mention, values - the price some will pay for rare varitants of P51's

There is one on UK ebay at present, hence my post.

What would you pay for it ?

Personally I thought around about £150 mark

I sure that most of us in the UK know the seller........

As for the P51 Damasus pens shown ( there are also P51SE variants ).........my quess about £1000+....possibly vastly more.

Here are a few pens from my collection as requested. From left to right:

The first one has a fantastic green barrel and metal cap shaped like bamboo. Maker unknown.

The second has a barrel and hood from Arco celluloid (maker unknown) and a cap by Brad Torelli.

The third I am told was made by Bexley but I am not sure.

The fourth is a vac with an orange ebonite woodgrain barrel and a cap in superb condition made by Ralph Prather.

The fifth is by Brad Torelli in the "candy stripe" design.

Apologies for the poor picture. Unfortunately my camera is malfunctioning so I had to resort to a tablet.
