Default JoWo XF Nib dryer than Sahara

I have a Conklin All American with their JoWo/Conklin XF nib. Its dryer than the Sahara. And under pressure it MIGHT put some ink down. Any thoughts?

Just wondering if the tines might be too tight? Maybe some gentle shimming to open them up a bit?

I thought the same. I did some light stretching by pulling the wings (and I mean lightly!!!) And it improved a smudge, but not enough to say its writing better. I may shim and do some tine work under magnification, but I also thought maybe the feed was perhaps too restrictive in the flow chanel?

Good thought. I'll dismantle and refit the feed and nib to be sure

After shimming, feed adjustments, and some fine tuning the nib writes spectacularly. Thank you all for your help!
