    Default What the ever-loving f$&k...

This is new...and not in a good way.
Interestingly, they issued a "non-return refund" so I get the feeling they KNEW they are selling spoiled products on Amazon.

    Disgusting...

And not down a sink that leads to a septic, like mine. It's likely poisonous and shouldn't go down any drain.

But, is there a problem other than mold? I'd just strain it, if it was me.

Nah...no problems beside the mold that I know of...or am willing to look for....but that ish goes in the trash anyhow.
I got my 8 dollars back, it will be invested into a higher quality brand of ink.

Oof... always gotta see the positives: at least you have an ink that’s clearly and obviously unusable.

Just imagine if you had an ink that’s at the brink of becoming moldy, you ink it up and it becomes moldy in your pen.

Looks like you got some old stock of Monteverde ink. I posted about the SitB announcement here at fpgeeks last year. https://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread...onteverde-Inks

I don't think it's an anaerobe. It can only grow on the surface, and probably because of partial condensation so that the osmotic pressure on the cell wall is lower at that point. I think it is unlikely to grow in your pen, but of course any remaining pieces of mold or spores can get in there.

You certainly know your biology and science, impressive!

No offense, but It's disgusting. I don't want that $#!+ in my pen...period. Filtered or otherwise...
Purchased a bottle of Malachite with the refund. Will be here next week.
    AND
It will be monitored for a few days before going into ANYTHING!

As to the “no return refund”, I’ve had half a dozen of these in the past few months. I tend to think they believed you when you complained and the postage to get the item back just wasn’t worth it to Amazon as opposed to knowingly selling bad stock.

    Yeah you're probably right.
This was sold by "Amazon Serivces LLC" so it was probably in a badly temperature controlled warehouse or distribution center somewhere for far too long...
I made sure to buy the "Monteverde Malachite" from Lanier pens this time.

Personally, I'd screw the cap back on, and drop the lot in the trash, and chalk it up as lesson learned.

I'd make sure I didn't do business with that Amazon seller again.

I bet there are very much worse things that go down most drains on a daily basis.

Straining it would never work. How on earth would you know that there wasn't a spore or two left because it escaped through the strainer? Then that would infect your pen or other inks after you emptied your pen and refilled it from a clean bottle of ink.

I had mold grow on one of my Mb pen feeds/nib even though it didn't show up in the bottle. Mb quickly sorted out my pen and discontinued and withdrew the ink.

Thank you all, it's in the trash bin.
That was my most disgusting fountain pen experience.
Hopefully never to be experienced ever again!
