Default What is the total volume of inks in your possession?

Just curious if you are a nerd like me and have tallied and measured (as an estimate) the total volume of inks you possess.

Right now, I have about 1600 ml. And they are all in black ink. I have a feeling that this is still a much lower than most of you.

But personally, I just find it ridiculous that I have so much ink to use up and still have the temptations to buy more. 1600 ml is on average 800 fills of ink for a 2ml capacity pen. I only refill about one pen or use about 2 ml of ink per week on average (I use EF pens). Which means I have about 15 years of ink...

I am slowly learning to become a grown adult for once in my life and freeze my temptations to buy unnecessary excess. It is super hard especially since stationery is the only hobby/money sink that I have right now. (Ok, I do have other hobbies, but they don't require me to buy stuff - and you know how it is - buying stuff releases dopamine etc)

So, how much ink (preferably in ml for comparison) do you have? This is ink AA.

Haha, I had a feeling I would be in the low end of the inkaholic spectrum. At least it hasn't breached the 10000 ml mark yet.

Dude, I'm approaching 200 bottles. You really think I'm going to tally up the ml?

I am just going to make a guess here, 200 * 50 ml = 10000 ml, yep we have a winner. Almost 100 years worth of ink if you use about 2 ml a week.

Part of me is in awe at the confidence in that statement - I'd never be able to account for spillage, family theft of ink (particularly daughter with a green addiction). The other part of me is horrified at the idea of being able to instantly be able to see just how much has been spent on pretty bottles.

Waterman black and blue...actually two bottles of blue.

Back in my shaving forum days men would admit to owning dozens of shave brushes and soaps. I can see having two or three, but 100 pucks just seems nuts.

Spreadsheet says 4,830 ml purchased volume, not accounting for usage. Mostly blue, black, blue-black.

    Nice.

As an estimate, as soon as I start a bottle, I just consider the volume halved. And then when the bottle is finished, it is 0 ml, of course.

Unless you are one of those people who uses all the bottles all at the same time. I like to only use several bottles at any one given time. Most of my ink bottles are still untouched.

Jace! 1600 ml all in one color? You have 15 years of ink all in one color?

Yeah, inky AA. And you'll drink nothing but Budweiser.

Don't let yourself dip your nibs into a second color: you'll never get "dry"!

Not many common pens fill 2 mL, and I rarely fill them to capacity anyway. I estimate about fifty years at my average usage. Some will need to be replaced in that time to retain certain colours. Also, I'll be dead.

Yep. I am still a colored ink virgin. I have thoughts of using and buying them (I even started a thread to give me some suggestions), but so far I still haven't strayed from black. Not grey, not blue-black, just black. I fool myself into thinking black just contains all the colors

Unless it’s a duplicate, and there are a few of those, every bottle has been started. I would guess the remaining volume is at least 3,000 ml.

That is sick and wrong, but then again, you said they were all black.

I will, when the COVID-19 saga is over. Believe it or not I only started my FP journey since the inception of COVID, I wonder if that had any effect on my ink choices. Probably not lol.

Mine is about 2622 ml in 39 bottles. I thought I had a lot but I see I do not by any stretch of the imagination. I'd actually like to reduce the number of bottles to 10 or less.

Ah... I thought I read you had been in for 15 years. Nevermind, you've got time. And no excuses!

(Buying samples is a great way to grow)

I had decided I wasn't going to come on here and say that. Therefore I'm pleased you said it so I can just say ditto.
