Default FS: Waterman Phileas Blue Medium Nib with converter

Hi guys, up for sale is a Grey Waterman Phileas with a medium nib. In rather good condition with no cracks or any major damage, just a couple of micro-scratches. No brassing or plating loss on the nib and trim either. The nib writes in a splendid wet medium and is buttery smooth. I’m looking for around $55-60 for this! Pictures with writing sample attached below! (Ps: sorry for the bad handwriting I haven’t practised in months)

Is this possibly a gray pen instead? Looks gray in the photo.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Oh my bad, it looked blue and I couldn’t find any mentions of a grey colour so I thought it was blue. Its actually grey.

1990s probably. There were a couple series of Phileas colors. The first series are a kind of "moire" type of thing, and these were not made for all that long. The second and more common series are more of a "marble" type thing. It's hard to describe but if you see them side-by-side, you'll see the difference. The grey moire is a somewhat lesser-seen color from the first series. I do not know if the pens yet have achieved much of a collector status, though I know the first series generally sells for a little more than the second. The pens are generally not all that expensive yet, though you have fools on eBay asking huge sums for them, where the pens then sit for a long time. My favorites are the deep blue moire in the first series and blue marble in the second series. I have a blue marble Phileas where the color is actually starting to wear off and where the nib ball is completely flat on the bottom - from years and years of daily use.

Edit Pentooling has a photo of some caps that shows the difference:

Caps A and B are the second series "marble" and caps C and D are the first series moire. The marble swirls are mainly black, whereas the moire swirls have other colors in them like grey and red/orange tones. The marble black swirls are a little heavier whereas the moire swirls are a little more subtle. The pen for sale here looks like a grey moire, based on the pictures at least.

A Phileas was a daily companion for me for years. I went through half of high school, all of college, and one year of law school with a Phileas as my everyday writer. In the 1990s, these were the accessible but good fountain pen you could buy. They sold them at Staples in the blue leatherette boxes. I remember getting one for Christmas one year in high school and thinking it was the classiest pen ever. It was a definite upgrade from my No Nonsense pen.

I really like these pens. Some of the most surprising as far as performance!

I have them all as a collector but enjoy the first one I purchased about 10 years ago. Just cannot go wrong.

I have many of these too. The ones I use most have had their steel nibs exchanged for L'Etalon gold nibs and they remain among my favourite writers.

I sold one to Force on FPN. I told him it was a daily writer and I had owned it for 15 years. He was a prick from the start. Sent it to the ebay/Paypal address within an hour of payment, then he messaged saying he wanted it sent to a work address, told him he was too late so he said he was going to cancel the sale.

10 days later the pen came back, he had taken the pen apart, broke the feed as he did so, swapped the broad nib that had been fitted and replaced it with a bent Fine. Said he didn't want it because the tab on the nib was rusted, not even my nib. So I had sent him a complete and working pen, got back a bag of bits with a broken feed and a swapped out nib.

    Haven't bought another.

Sounds like he bought the pen for the rare nib but didn't want to pay for it.
