Default Pen shops in Chicago area

I’m going to be driving up to Chicago from Florida and would love to find a nice pen shop either there or along the way. Google maps shows an Anderson pen Co in the city but says it is temporarily closed. Any recommendations?

I've never been there, but maybe Atlas Stationers (atlasstationers.com)? I do buy online from them. The reason I don't visit in person is because I live at least 1700 miles away in Nevada. It's not exactly a day trip.

As for along the way, not knowing what route you might be taking, Dromgoole's is in or near Houston, Van Ness Pens is in Little Rock, AR, and Truphae is in Greenville, SC. Again, I haven't been to any of them in person. I've bought online from Truphae (truphaeinc.com).

If you go through New Orleans, there is Papier Plume in the French Quarter.

Thanks. I’ll look it up. Anyone been to Truphae in South Carolina? I’ve also heard of some in Atlanta but couldn’t find any online

I know that Anderson Pens (andersonpens.com) has an address in Appleton, WI, which can't be that far from Chicago. It's farther than I thought--170 mi roughly North of Chicago. I don't know if Ipenstore (ipenstore.com) has a brick and mortar store, but their website indicates they are located in Chicago. I do know that many pen shops nationwide are either closed or have limited hours due to the pandemic, and that isn't likely to change any time soon. Or, well, it shouldn't change any time soon.

I just wanted to chime in because I'm familiar with and a customer of iPenstore. They talk about Chicago on their "about" page because that is where their family opened the first store. I don't know how long it's been but they have since moved to a small town in Michigan called Dexter which is a suburb of Ann Arbor and its an online only operation. I'm in Michigan and have placed orders before and arranged with them to pick it up in person because I'm local but all they have is a warehouse with everything in bins. There is no showroom, customer counter or merchandise out for browsing.

I ended up going to Atlas Stationary in Chicago. They had a very decent collection of pens, inks, notebooks, etc. I ended up picking up a Sailor Pro Gear and a Penlux. While I was there I felt crazy deja vu. Come to find out I’ve been following them on Instagram for a while lol. Very good people and decent prices. I got 50% off on both pens
