Default PIcked up at a flea market for 14 bucks. Help iding what exactly it is.

I picked this up at a flea market. Its a Sheaffer white dot but what one is it? Why does the cap not have Sheaffer written on it? After the pictures were taken its soaking in hot water with some dish soap to clean the old ink out. How do I test this pen to make sure its still working and how hard is it to rebuild it if its not working right? Thanks.

My guess is that it's a Valiant Touchdown TM in burnt umber. Are you having difficulty unscrewing the blind cap and drawing back the tube?

Edited to add: I'm gonna go look at Ron's FPN post and see how wrong I am.

Clearly it is a J. Knoll 1000 fountain pen....

Having no reference to determine size, but seeing the shorter nib and narrower cap band, I think a Statesman. Valiants were larger pens and less common than the Statesman, and weren't made in the Touchdown version. You do see some Valiants with shorter cap bands, but I don't remember them being that short, and they often have two bands cut into them. Wasn't the Valiant more than $10?

I was influenced by the width of the cap band for the Valiant compared to the Statesman. If the Valiant wasn't made in touchdown filler, then it cannot be one. Oh why oh why did Sheaffer insist on all those model names across different designs?

I dropped "John Knoll" into DuckDuckGo and there is a selection of interesting characters to choose from.

Okay, it's a plunger, not a touchdown (OP's reveal in FPN).

It is a hideous radioactive pen and you should immediately send it to me for proper disposal.
My other pen is a Montblanc.
