    Default Ink Review: Scribe Malachite

With many grateful thanks to junglejim I was able to do some testing on some of the new Scribe inks before they went on general sale.

I was able to compare Scribe Malachite with the original Parker Penman Emerald and found them to be very similar colours. Maybe Emerald leaned very slightly more blue than Malachite but there was not much in it. If you liked Parker Penman Emerald then Scribe Malachite might be a good replacement although not as saturated as Parker Penman Emerald.

I enjoyed writing with Malachite ink in my Waterman Hemisphere fitted with Preface 18ct M nib. Malachite is not a really saturated ink and exhibited some lovely shading. I had no start-up problems, no skipping, no ink starvation issues. Flow and lubrication were both good. It felt very slightly drier than Jamocha, Garnet and Indigo but not much.

Like the other Scribe inks I've tried Malachite became more saturated and concentrated after being inside the pen for a few days and then I started to see some bluish sheen.

It didn't show through much on my Tomoe River paper and I could have written on the reverse if I wanted to. Dry time is fairly long but that's true for many inks on TR paper.

I didn't have a problem cleaning it out of my pen nor cleaning it off of my fingers. A really nice ink.
