    Default Indigraph

I just noticed Christof's posted photos of what he called his personal pen of 2020. So I found the Indigraph website and found the concept very interesting.

    https://indigraph.myshopify.com/pages/products

Explore the website pages and read about the design by Iñigo Echeverria.

    https://indigraph.myshopify.com/pages/about-us
    https://indigraph.myshopify.com/pages/faq

    Interesting!

    Thanks Fred. interesting...
I heard about it when I was checking Ackerman pens with a gold nib.
However, I'm not so sure of the line variations and flexibility of the nib.
The whole point of using India ink is to use it with dip pen nibs (at least for me).

Their answer to that is offering two calligraphy nibs, and who knows what's to come? I am not a sketcher, so the pen would likely sit inked until the cap chamber dried out, and I'd be back to square one.

I also looked up the indigraph website when the pen was shown. It is an interesting concept, and worth exploring even though I am neither an artist or a calligraphinks.

Imone possible exploration would be to see how the pen would work with gall jnks.

Thanks for the pointer on calligraphy nibs, though I suspect their mostly stubs, like the ones from Sheaffer Calligraphy sets.....
I am not a sketcher either. But I used dip pens regularly.
And stopped after a while as it was a hassle to pull out my ink well, dip pen, choose the nib etc.....
Might as well get a larger desk, or move to a larger room, or maybe a house...

...you just could use it for writing adresses since indian ink is waterproof. my indigraph sits in my kitchen and is used (beside occasional sketching) for labeling lots of things.

My nib is an EF which ist the most suitable for sketching. I once wrote a review of the pen on www.stylo-plume.org

    here: https://www.stylo-plume.org/viewtopi...303704#p303704

    but here's a short translation:

The indigraph - a fountain pen which writes with indian ink!

The thing that makes the indigraph special is a small reservoir of distilled water in the cap top, which is separated by a membrane to the innercap. through the membrane evaporates humidity which keeps the nib moist. Simple thing.

I also used the indigraph for my sketched advent calendar. see here: https://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread...l=1#post312065

My Indigraph is permanently inked with black Pelikan Fount India. Like @christof mine is mostly used for drawing, and also urban sketching. I left it filled and unused for two or three months during last summer without any drying issues.

Interesting pen and a truly unique design and execution. A rarity indeed.
The design reminded me of Pelikan Graphos especially the clip.

On the side, I am familiar with India inks and I am not questioning their efficacy, but I could also use (to the same effect) Platinum Carbon Black (or other pigmented fountain pen inks) which I can put in *any* fountain pen I want to use.

I have never tested Platinum Carbon Black ink. I know that it is water resistant, but is it as black as india ink?

Can the Indigraph be used as a 'normal ink fountain pen'? Asking because I like the design and think it would make quite a good EDC journal pen.

In principle, this is possible. However, it may be that the high humidity in the cap dilutes the ink, at least for the first stroke (I think that this was mentioned in one of the youtube videos). Regarding the indian ink that i use, I can't see any signs of dilution.

David, I’ve used normal FP ink in mine - from memory, Sailor, Montblanc and Robert Oster - and they all worked just fine. Didn’t seem affected by the humidifier, and anyway, you don’t need to fill the little water chamber if you don’t want to.

Although I like my Indigraph for drawing I don’t find it comfortable for long writing sessions. I find it a little too narrow and ‘slippery’.
