Default New Blue Goes On Sale

A new blue pigment has been discovered and is commerically available. YInMn Blue is $180/oz - which should give premium ink makers something to get excited about...

My gut tells me that I don't think MB wants to mess with pigment inks. I don't know about Noodler's either. Are any Noodler's pigment inks?

I hope someone does though. If successful, it looks like it would give Baystate Blue a run for the money.

MB's permanent inks are pigment inks, no?

As far as I am aware, their permanent inks were iron gall formulations. I would be very surprised if they offer a pigment ink due to the potential for clogging if not used regularly or maintained properly.

I'm a recent convert to Seiboku. Absolutely love it. It is currently in my L2K <MCI>.

The only Platinum IG (other than their excellent Blue Black) that I have tried is the Khaki. It's not that I didn't like it, its just that my colour palette is very boring: I like Blues, Blue Blacks, Blacks, and not much else.

...what makes you think they're now pigmented?
Pigmented ink leaves a unique residue on the underside of a nib. I first noticed it years ago with Sailor's pigmented ink. Montblanc Permanent Blue has the same characteristic.

It also leaves a residue in Pelikan ink windows. Don't ask me how I know.

I’ve only used the cartridges. Thanks for the heads up!

Maybe you have done/consider this, but if you unscrew the Pelikan nib unit, can't you get the residue out of the ink window either by flushing or a tool that won't scratch the ink window or leave fibers in.

Unless you meant that the residue actually stains the ink window.

No, not staining. It's a residue that can be removed. I got most of it out with a Qtip... but not all.

I was referring to MB. I was also referring to archival inks, ie., those with an ISO certification, not inks arbitrarily designated as archival by their maker with no basis.
