    Default Vintage Hooded Nibs

An interaction with another member here got me thinking about the kinds of pens I prefer. 2 of my favorite pens, The Parker 51 and Lamy 2000 are hooded nib pens. Another is the Pilot VP, while not a hooded nib pen, because of the small nib size it is similar aesthetically.
Besides the 51, what are some vintage model pens with hooded nibs?

    Parker 61, 21, Parkette
    Eversharp 5th Avenue
    Waterman Taperite
    Universal V250
    Eclipse Hooded Knight
    Shaeffer School Pen

    Any others?
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Quite a few Japanese pens in this category, especially the many "long/short" design pens. Just one example: 1980's era Pilot Elite:

    "When Men differ in Opinion, both Sides ought equally to have the Advantage of being heard by the Publick;
and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter."

Me too. A green 404. A good lever filler, nice celluloid.

Esterbook Phaeton...Strange offering from the makers of the "Renew Point".

National made some Webster's-branded hoodies for Sears Roebuck. I have one version that is the only pen that I can think of with a celluloid hood in the same pattern as the rest of the pen. All other hooded pens that come to mind have a solid colored hood.

One of the early (about 1942) versions of the Sager-made Graphomatic pen was hooded. Parker objected, and the Graphomatic continued on with a conventional nib in a still unconventional pen.

All of those Eversharp relatives of the 45.

    English Parker 17.

Here is one to consider. I have two and really like them both.

The Moore Fingertip. Made to compete with the Parker 51 after WWII when the economy was spiking. Not sure if I consider it a true hooded nib, but will defer to those who are more knowledgeable than me.

Good article from Richard Binder on the Fingertip.

Fingertip in Woodsman Green: Love this little fat stubby pen! It's kinda like its owner!

Wow, first time I have ever seen these Moore pens. The first celluloid one looks awesome. I am going to have to get me one. I wonder if the nib is all one piece with the section?

So I went to the Internet to see how much a Moore Fingertip goes for and found one on Ebay for $1760. Please tell me they don't generally sell for this much. https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-MOO....m46890.l49292

Don't worry, that particular seller is notorious for setting ridiculous prices and then having the occasional auction. I seem to recall them even being discussed here a while ago.

This (example only as out of stock) is a bit more realistic - https://www.peytonstreetpens.com/moo...-restored.html

Williamson made a "51"-esque pen in, funnily enough, Vacumatic-esque celluloid:

    And Ancora, sorta?

These have to be one of the most "deco" in integral design of pens from that period, matched IMHO only by Sheaffer's conical-nibbed pens in the '40s that started with the Triumph. I've had a few of these uncommon Moores, even a rare N.O.S, but never in that gorgeous striated celluloid in the photos, above.
