Hello everyone!
I'm looking at the fresh from the press new Visconti Homo Sapiens Demo Gemstones and I'm wondering what fellow inkheads think about them!
Visconti will be releasing a new series of semitransparent pens based on the classic Homo Sapiens style.
They will be a regular line as opposed to the annual, limited edition Homo Sapiens Demonstrator pens that includes such gems as the Chiantishire and for now they have released images of three colors, Blue for Sapphire, Green for Emerald and Red for Ruby.
Here is the gorgeous Sapphire blue lady

and finally the satisfying deep red Ruby color

The material is of course acrylic resin, the pens are equipped with Visconti's power filler double reservoir, and the well known Visconti hook safe. Similarly safe choices in other technical characteristics regarding size and clip style.
Personally I consider the Homo Sapiens one of the greatest modern pens so this new edition is really exciting news to me. It's size is and round design fits perfectly - at least in my hands - and I'm really never tired of looking at it or just toying with the pen and the hook look. Weight-wise it also works great for me, as I find it substantial but not heavy enough to discourage long writing sessions.
I find these monochromatic semi-transparent pens really gorgeous, especially the blue one and I'm really looking forward to seeing them close up!
The only thing that perplexes me a bit is that Visconti has decided to go with their new 14kt gold nib instead of the 18kt gold that I assumed to be the standard for the Homo Sapiens line, but maybe that is just me. Probably the reason is to establish price segmentation between the normal Lava HS, the Gemstones, and the limited edition Demonstrators.

Also rather interesting is that they have decided to insert a cabochon-like piece on the top of the cap which is usually reserved for their logo & the My Pen System and trasfer the logo to the end side of the barrel. Not really sure it compliments the design...
Either way I really look forward to receiving them!
What are your thoughts gals & guys?
