There's now the MaJohn A1 - VP knock off, and well made too. The nib units are interchangeable. I don't think that anyone mentioned the Lamy Dialog. BIG pens, cool ones though the early ones had problems with the seal which has been fixed. One of the really cool features is how the clip retracts when the nib unit is extended.

As to "models" of VP, I'm not certain if you are referring to the two main lines - Vanishing Point and Decimo? As to the finishes offered in those two, it is getting to be endless, with quite a few exclusive models either as limited editions or specific to a particular retailer.

For the VP, you might find the following page of interest, from Carmen Rivera, a noted seller of vintage pens and long-time VP person:

    This weird?

The clip reminds me of the inexpensive ones used on some cheaper 1920's Autopoint Pencils.

At first sight it reminds me of a musical instrument - namely a bassoon:

Of Pilot's current VP/Capless offerings, the Fermo is definitely my favorite. It's size and overall balance just fits my hand better than either the standard size VP or the Decimo. In the US, the Fermo is still available from (at least, there may be others) Amazon and Jetpens.com. A quick search also found pensachi.com in Japan who ship worldwide. I'm sure there are others as well.

I loved my Decimo until I tried a VP. The extra size and weight of the VP was very nice in my hands. I'd be interested in seeing the Fermo in person. Something to look for at the next pen show!

The think that I don't like about the Fermo is that you can't use one hand to extend the nib. Well, you might, but it's awkward compared to the VP.
