Default MB Permanent Black quick tip

I used to experience long drying times when using Montblanc Permanent Black ink. Even if I waited a couple of days there would still be a problem with smudging on some papers. But now, after diluting the ink with water the problems are gone.
I did 2 parts ink and 1 part distilled water. Love this ink now.

Can confirm. I also found that diluting it cures the annoying smudging problem. Works pretty well at 2:1. So now I have 100mL of the stuff lol.

This tip is very useful. I wonder if dilution will also diminish the accumulation of residue on ink windows. The accumulation of ink residue is the reason I stopped using these otherwise excellent inks in my Pelikans.

Is the ink good enough to be worth the effort? Does this dilute the color?

    Both excellent points.
I've never used Mb Permanent Black but if I had an ink that left residue on clear ink windows or transparent piston barrels I would be concerned enough to not use it and am also interested to learn if the deepness of the black looks diluted with a 2:1 dilution rate.
