    Default Writing Slope / Box Eye Candy

    And if you have a lot of money, they could be more than just nice to look at, but no matter - fun to browse!

    Online site with a big bunch of beautiful writing slopes and writing boxes.

    Example:

    "When Men differ in Opinion, both Sides ought equally to have the Advantage of being heard by the Publick;
    and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter."

    ~ Benjamin Franklin

    The example pictured above is beautiful. If it were not for my age-imposed effort to not acquire more 'things', I would definitely want one.

    An Observation: The pin locking system to secure the side drawer is ingenious, especially since attempting to carry it by the handle would be instinctive.

    Yep. I only just saw this site referenced on Facebook and haven't had a lot of time to look at all the examples, but saw enough, with details like the above you've pointed out, that I'll enjoy later tonight. There are objects, and then there are objects that are designed and crafted with thought and care. These are the latter, I think.

    I read somewhere that the slant on these desks is perfect if you write/practice with a quill. SO as an experiment, I made a poor man's version, which was basically a board on top a chair angled on my desk. It worked fine

    I used to enjoy slanted school desks, and I am also thinking of making a “poor man’s” slanted surface to see if the allure still holds. Perhaps a 12x12 inch board with a 1-2 inch riser at the far end, crafted to gauge the incline angle and comfort on a desktop.

    I only just spotted this thread and reading it reminded me of the writing slope that appeared on BBC TV's The Repair Shop.

    The man who featured in the show found this writing slope in the back of his sister's loft in 2006 after she died and inside was an adoption document that revealed to him that the woman he had always believed to be his sister had been his mother and the couple he had believed to be his parents had been his grandparents. Everyone in the barn was in tears at the end when the sad old box was beautifully restored.

    I remember that episode. Great work was done on the slope.

    That was one fantastic Writing Slope.
    Second one is pretty also.
    Like a fool some 5-6 years ago I didn't bid big time for a writing slope...Those I've seen later were not worth bidding on, or I lost real early in the bidding.

    In I do want one real complete....I doubt if I'll get one unless there is a World Cup on here in Germany.
