Good point. Parker, Waterman, Rotring, Sanford are all sub brands of Rubbermaid Newel. Sheaffer a sub brand of Cross, Conklin and a host of others sub brands of Yafa. Of course Sheaffer for years was a sub brand of Textron, and then BIC before being bought by Cross.
How far woild you go with this? After all, Montblanc is a sub-brand of Richemont, along with Cartier & Dunhill.
Nakaya is an offshoot/subrand of Platinum.
Diplomat is owned by Yafa too, and their pens are distinct from the other Yafa brands.
If the only "genuine" brands are ones that are not owned or incorporated into another company/brand, then you are not left with many brands.
ST Dupont, Pelikan, Pilot, Lamy, Staedtler, Visconti, sntini and Leonardo for argument's sake.
