May be this statement sounds strange from a hard core collector of vintage pre war Pelikan....

...but this pen is all I ever wanted and all I ever need:

all the rest is.... ornament and just happened.

Christof, we all probably need just one pen, but want different ones at different times.

After we ended up with a collection, then we can do as you did above, pick our most favorite.

That doesn't mean the rest of the collection is worthless or undesirable anymore.

In this hobby, we are allowed to have many favorites, and I am grateful for that. There's not many things in life that we can (or should) apply that to

A great thought train on B & W and why it appeals to geezers like me...

Nice ideas, but I found the style irritating. This is a talking heads video and the way he delivers the text is unpleasant. There doesn't seem to be any relation between the emotion of his voice and the content of what he is saying. Be forewarned - you might find it difficult to endure the entire 25 minutes of this monologue.

    YMMV

I presume you're talking about the vid link I posted.

Interesting as I thought I was unique in finding his vids mostly unpleasant. They are usually a lot longer and rambling and boringly pretentious. I tried this one because it was specific to B & W and it was shorter than most. Strangely, I hung on every word, probably because of the shared experiences.

As already said - I am collector and interested in pen design.

And the LAMY Safari is an extremely well designed pen - even in Black an White:

But if you would ask what pen I actually need, it would be this:

    Christof,

If the image was in full color, would the pen be black and polished stainless steel?

Once upon a time, I was an avid estate sale goer.

And there is a certain charm in items arranged for the purpose of attracting buyers, accidentally lend itself to some interesting compositions, such as this one...

This photo reminded me of my great-grandfather, who worked as a shoemaker in the early 20th century!
