Greetings everybody! Today in review is a fountain pen with interesting material of one well-known brand for another well-known brand)). This material is mixing a natural resin with celluloid and named manufacturer as Magma.

Giorgio Fedon 1919 Magma w|14K nib (made in Italy)

This pen is based on Visconti “Square and Circle” line, which is a cross-section of a square with circled corners, identical to models which I showed in review Visconti Opera Black Guilloche and Opera Club Orange. The body material, as I wrote in the abstract, is a combination of natural black resin and yellow celluloid called Magma. The filling system is a cartridge-converter, international standard and section has an internal thread for screw-in branded converters. Cap on thread, 4-start thread, 2 and 1/4 turns need for closing/opening.

Previously, in those days when China had not yet cloned pens in crazy quantities, well-known companies themselves produced inexpensive fountain pens, classifying them as school pens. This is just such a pen from before 2000.

Waterman Reflex Burgundy (made in France) 1995-2000

The model is a cylindrical shape tapering to the end with a rounded end, and the cap when a cylinder shape that smoothly transitions into a hexagon top. The section and caps top are made of black plastic, and the rest is made of burgundy plastic. The filling system is a cartridge-converter, of international format. Cap on friction with click at the end.

Hello! This is probably one of the first Chinese modern fountain pen brands that decided to enter the international market, even before the time of total cloning, but in the tradition of Panamonic, Soni and JWC, they added the word Paris for a better image but no reason). So let’s look at this miracle:

    SZ.LEQI 928 Paris (made in Сhina) ~2005-2010

The model have cylindrical shape with flat tops. The body material is most likely brass covered by black lacquer, the cap is chrome-plated. I think the designer was inspired by the design of modern Pelikan M215 and Parker Duofold. The filling system is cartridge-converter by international standard. Cap on friction with click at the end.

To be honest I actually like the shape of the original tines because I'm no longer a fan of F or EF nibs (Sadly I'm old). Could any required work be done to make this a smooth writing M or maybe even a wider nib? If so it sounds like a bargain pen.

    Thank you, Yazeh!

To Chrissy: Unfortunately, in addition to retipping, they have not yet come up with a high-quality way to increase the tips, but there are tips and tricks, how to increase line size to one step if you like wet line). You can make a barely visible gap between the half of tip, then the size line will increase by one size due to wet flow. If the gap is too big, the line will be too wet(unpleasant).

ps: I'm not young either, but I don't like a too thick and wet line))

I don't know if it's appropriate to repeat myself, but I got one more pen for which I already have a review, so I just updated the old post.

Hello everybody! Earlier, many times, I heard that the nib of Platinum President is noticeably softer than nibs in Platinum Century, which I really don’t like for its hardness. I don’t like hard nibs, so I tried many times to buy the President for comparison, but each time something more interesting came across, so the testing of the President was constantly postponed. Now when I stopped looking on other modern fountain pens because I am full filled now, I suddenly came across this pen, so I decided to try it and reviewed. In addition, it’s in an attractive red color, which added to the desire.

Platinum President Red Wine w|18K EF nib (made in Japan) PNB-20000P#10-1

The shape of this pen is standard for most modern Japanese fountain pens and resembles a cigar. The material of body is red resin called company as Red Wine. All metal accents are gold plated. The filling system is cartridge-converter, of their proprietary Platinum format. Cap on thread, 2-start thread, opening/closing in 1 with 1/4 turns.

Earlier, I was constantly surprised by the passion of some fans who bought fountain pens of different brands by approximately the same color, until I myself fell ill with this disease)). Such a stretch of colors from bright red to black-red happened to me by accident, but it's damn cool)). At the moment I don't plan to expand this line, but who knows, who knows ...))) So I'm just enjoying by this coincidence)).

Hey! Recently, I had a dilemma about which to buy: this pen or the already well-known Visconti Opera with the famous Palladium nib with even more liquidity, but the spirit of research prevailed for expanded my knowledge base for you. This model is now the flagship of brand, so let’s see if this pen was worth the attention, or if we should have looked at Visconti after all.

Cross Peerless 125 Quartz Blue (made in China/Japan) AT0706-14FY

The shape of this model is made in the Cross style and resembles a submarine, with cap which is more massive than the body. The main material of the body is lacquered brass, the same as on the some Townsend model, the section is made of plastic. In this case, the lacquer is blue color with longitudinal stripes under the varnish called Quartz Blue. The coating is very attractive and somewhat reminiscent of Urushi lacquer in its depth of transparency. The filling system is cartridge-converter of its proprietary Cross format. Cap on thread, by only one thread, closing/opening in 1.5 turns.
