Talking Mystery Ink #34 and #35

And so we are back! It's been a little over 6 months since our last Mystery Ink series and it's time to start anew. Many profound thanks to Chrissy, Deb (who is still away), FredRyder, Sailor Kenshin, and Jon Szanto for your kind words and encouragement while I was gone!

And so without further adieu, Mystery Ink is now open to FPG veterans, n00bs, newbies, and lurkers. You volunteer, I send free ink, you write with it and post your thoughts and observations. Guessing is welcome, but not required. There is nothing to "win" aside from perhaps personal satisfaction that you recognized it. No guess is confirmed until the mystery ink is finally revealed. The point of the mystery ink threads is an unbiased review. Fear not about the quality of your handwriting or sketching abilities. We don't care. We are all appreciative of those with the gift of artistic ability, but how well you draw or write doesn't impact your ability to test an ink and provide your opinion on it.

I will act as the Procurer, Packer, and Post Office Porter. This ink flight will consist of 1 packet containing 2 inks, each vial filled with 3mls of Mystery Ink labeled MI-34 and MI-35. There will be 10 packets available and only 2 of the packets will be for overseas participants due to the high cost of postage ( US$16.25/each ). If you are international, please let me know. If there are more sign-ups for overseas participants than slots, then I will run a Random Number Generator to pick.

The inks in this ink flight are dye based, not pigmented, no shimmer and not iron gall. I don’t use any of the Noodler’s Bay State inks, so there won’t be any in the ink flights I send out.

Post below if you would like to volunteer to receive a free ink flight. I'll leave this open until 12 Noon PDT Tuesday May 18th. Overseas packets will post on Thursday May 20th and US mailing will be on Saturday May 22nd.

Note: Packets sent to the UK generally arrive within 8 working days. Packets I sent to penfriends in Austria and the Netherlands on 02 April have still NOT arrived at their destinations, so EU is "iffy".

Covid-19 Precautions -- I am now fully inoculated, but for everyone's safety, ink samples will be prepared using a face mask and gloves. Ink Packets will be put together with a face mask and freshly washed hands. ( Sorry, but it's impossible to use sticky tape with gloves on... )

Until then, stay Safe and Healthy.
    All the Best.

Remember what happened last time? Everyone waited for someone new and only 3 people signed up. ( I did send some out internationally at the last minute, though!)

Hello junglejim It's great to see you back here.

If you have space for someone in the UK I'm willing to enter as long as I don't take someone new's place.

    Good morning!

So far we have the following people who are interested in participating in this Ink Flight:

USA: Sailor Kenshin, FredRydr, elaineb, CrayonAngelss*, stevekolt*

    International: BayesianPrior*, Yazeh, Chrissy, Pterodactylus

( * indicates a brand new participant who gets a guaranteed slot as per Mystery Ink tradition! )

The International slot(s) will be decided by a Random Number Generator pick.

We'll wait a few more days until Tuesday to see if any one else wishes to sign-up.

    Thanks!

    Good Afternoon!

The ink flights for MI#34 and 35 are now closed. First, I would like to thank fpg member tooth for his generous gift of several bags of new empty ink sample vials. They are being put to good use!

Could BayesianPrior, elaineb, CrayonAngelss, and stevekolt please PM me your name and address so I can prepare the ink packets? I already have everyone else's addresses.

Since we have just 5 US participants I was able to squeeze in one additional international spot ( 3 instead of just 2). I went to Random.org and used the list randomizer function and the results came out:

    List Randomizer

There were 3 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

    ptero
    chrissy
    yazeh

    IP: 2600:6c52:7800:2024:226:bbff:fe0f:379f

Congratulations Ptero and Chrissy! You have been added on along with BayesianPrior.

International packets will go out on Thursday May 20th and US packets will be mailed on Saturday May 22nd.

    Thanks to all the participants.

Because of the extra travel time and Customs clearance requirements, all International inkflights have now been sent. US inkflights will still be sent out on Saturday, as planned.
