Default Stuff I made that might be interesting to someone

    Hi,

Got kinda bored, took a bunch of pictures, thought some people might like to see some of them.

This set was taken with the following thought in mind: "how desirable can I make a third tier pen seem..."

Much nicer than the last pen I picked up at the bank.

Coming from you, that is the highest praise I could hope for. Both you and PenHero are outstanding photographers/artists and both of you have inspired me. I like both of your photos so much and have saved so many of them that "christof" and "Pen Hero" are both keywords I use to sort photos I have saved! Thank you!

well, if the pen you picked up at the bank is a ballpoint, that goes without saying! :P
    Thank you for the compliment

Thank you! Mission accomplished! Even though it's a 3rd (or 4th...) tier pen, it writes beautifully.
It's like a Chevette, with an LS7 ... looks (and is) cheap, but wow, can it ever go.
oh, and if you like the style of the first photo, you should keep watching this thread, i have taken quite a few photos in that exact style. Dozens maybe. In fact that's what led to the "hmmm.. i wonder how desirable i can make this pen seem" in the first place!

3rd tier, 4th tier, all just artificial labels.

As your photo have shown, all that matters is that the pen survived the decades with character and dignity, and today we can enjoy it.

I will offer this: it has more "character" than "dignity"... you can see it if you look for it; the pen is slightly banana shaped... :P
Now that I have a reliable heat source (embossing heat gun) i may at some point try and straighten it out.

I have a Soennecken 507, with an ever slightly noticeable warping on the barrel, not even enough to disrupt the piston inside.
But at some point, we'll pass the point of diminishing return for spending a lot of effort on a pen.

Earlier this year, I decided to try and improve my photoshop "skills" (i use the word very lightly)

I did not want to play a game of "find and download the perfect matching font" so I used what I already had installed

The pens in my reproductions are all real photos of my real pens. As much as I could, I used the same pen as would have been in the ad. In this one I used my black Vacumatic "51" with a Sterling Silver Cap (from a different pen...)

    The hands are real too.

(the ads are mostly swiped from Google Books scans of magazines, usually LIFE magazine)

Nothing from the original ad has been carried over to my reproduciton.

"First year" (aka early production with the thin collar) Sheaffer Snorkel
This pen came to me as a Statesman, but had the common crack in the cap at the clip.
(This is the first snorkel I have owned that has had this damage, I have been lucky)
So, I've upgraded it to being a Clipper.
I restored this pen with new seals and sac.
Oddly, this pen has the correct gold snorkel tube, but the sac protector is a last generation model (per Richard Binder's website)
Likely it had the sac and sac protector replaced at some point
    The pen writes beautifully.

Two more pics of the same "First Year" snorkel Clipper
In the second, I am channeling my inner "Acoustic Pens" because I absolutely love his photography and presentation
Although I have a long way to go in attempting to match his penmanship

this one was inspired by looking at Christof's many "comparison/identification/glamour shot" police line ups
    - "51" flighter set (the refill in the liquid lead pencil WORKS (kinda)),
    - 3 different models of 45 flighter (oldest to newest) and
    - uhg, yes, a ballpoint jotter with a fisher space pen refill (this is my apocalypse pen/refill it ALWAYS works)

There is just something about the Parker 25 that I love. I know it was a lower end student pen, but I simply love the aesthetic - and that's enough for me!

I can't even begin to tell you how much I hated the 25 - it almost put me off fountain pens for years. They were relentlessly awarded as prizes at school and given as birthday presents etc, I had, I think, every version there was, including silver, black, white, and the elusive orange one, and disliked every single one of them. Boy pens...

High praise! thank you (your shot, like all of your group shots is AMAZING!)

i will say, i think i may go back and reshoot this one... two items are not perfectly straight and now i can't un-see it, in fact, i can't seem to see anything EXCEPT the crookedness! agghh! :P
one of the downsides to not shooting on a white background: its very hard to straighten something in post...
At least the "feel" worked out the way i wanted it to so I'm pretty happy with that part.
well, if i DO reshoot it, i have a 61 flighter pencil i can add to it...

As for the 25: i find it very polarizing and "not my thing", but I won't say never, I HAVE changed my mind on things in the past...
