An Omas Cristoforo Colombo II M and my grandfather's gold Sheaffer Snorkel Triumph M upstairs, and three demonstrators downstairs--a Franklin-Christoph Model 31 Omnis MCI, my faithful Opus 88 stub, and an amber Jinhao 599A F that a friend sent for review. Here's the FC:

Finally emptied the two Franklin Christophs, so time for a rotation:

    • Conid Minimalistica with a Ti fine cursive italic, inked with Platinum Blue Black
    • Montblanc 14 with an 18k fine nib, inked with KWZ Iron Gall Blue Black

    Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

    Trying out two new inks!
My iPhone did not capture the shading on the Nekoyanagi...it shades like nothing I've ever tried, and feels unicorn-ish. Somehow appropriate for the 111.

I recently found this pocket size Waterman Taperite in grey color. Consulting Richard Binder's website, it matches the "Lady Garland" model, along with the interesting pattern where you usually see a cap band. I love the gold-plated clip against the silver colored cap.

Two pens that share some design yearnings:

Parker 51 Aero, teal, with a generous medium verging upon assertive broad nib, Pelikan Brilliant Black.

Aurora 88 Piccola (or "small fountain pen"), black, medium nib, Waterman Intense Black. It traces its descent from Marcello Nizzoli's Aurora 88 of the late 1940s through the early 1960s, originally an imitation of the Parker 51 although in my opinion having very much its own design spirit. The Aurora I'm using today is an homage to the 1940s 88, although with an open nib rather than the original semi-hooded nib, and c/c filling instead of the original piston system. It came out in 1989 and manages to echo in its proportions if not really in its essence the look of the earlier 88.
