Default The Last and First page

A few days ago I finished my sketchbook.
It took about a year and at one sketch per sheet, that 80 pages sketchbook has quite a bit of not only my sketches, but also the memory of the pens I used to do them, many of which have found new loving homes.

Today I out of a few selections, I finally decided on which one will be the next sketchbook.
And this one is actually quite special, because it has one of my sketches on the front cover:

I ordered this from redbubble as a proof of quality.

If I were to put my name on something that others can order also, I have to be sure that it's of good quality.

And so after choosing this Merlin Merlina, I tackle the first blank page and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the paper:

Looks like I don't have to worry about feathering. But ... the real test would be when I apply some light color washes. I guess we'll see in the subsequent sketches, won't we?

    @Kaputnik.

See, my new sketchbook is bigger than my previous one (this one is 5x7 inches) and looks like my sketch size grew with it as well.

The journey continues, and your pens are the lucky ones!

Thank you for the sketch book recommendation, but your sketches are the highlights regardless of what paper you choose. They are always excellent.

Let me see... Jon vs a red marble celluloid with "electric" personality...

    That just may work, actually

Second page ... featuring an old stylo-pen Inkograph that I turned into a fountain pen with a home-ground crisp Medium stub.

Same ink, I didn't have time to do a sketch with washes just yet.

Beautiful work -- and I'm thoroughly jealous.

    I can compose with a camera, but I can't draw a dot!

I believe anyone can sketch (especially those whose eyes are already trained to compose images).

It's whether one enjoys it or not.

Alright, the moment of truth, can this notebook deal with color washes?

Voila! I think it passes with flying ... eh, colors (or shades in this case). The paper feels great under the brush, no buckling due to moisture, and no fibers peeling off.

Ink is Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz, which really make the sketch look like an old sepia photograph

    @ Will
All your work here is fabulous.
I love all of your pen collections too. They are amazing for sketch and your colour washes are weldone.
