Diplomat Excellence A Plus Waves 14K FP and Matching Mechanical Pencil, New in Box
Diplomat Excellence A series has been around for a while, and the Excellence A Plus is an even superior version of this great model. The body is a brilliant lacquered Guilloche Lapis Wave Pattern over a brass body, so the pen has a nice heft to it. The pen is offset with silver trim and a nice spring-loaded clip of solid metal. As nice as the body of the pen is, the real star of the Excellence A Waves is the 14k gold, #6 F nib. The nib is bi-color, with the Diplomat logo in Gold against a rhodium-plated background. The nib lacks a breather hole which gives it a slightly more streamlined appearance. Diplomat knows what they are doing when they install and adjust these nib, The matching pencil in the set is constructed with the same care and materials, and is an equally pleasing writing instrument. Both are new, in their original packaging. The pen was dipped to test the nib smoothness for a few lines, then ultrasonically cleaned.
The pen with a gold nib is very uncommon...usually you can only find the pen with the steel nib, with street price at $260 for the pen) .
The street prices for the ones I am selling are right at $350 for the FP with the gold nib, and just over $200 for the pencil.
