Default How are desk pen recepticals made?

I have a Wahl Doric desk pen, missing its receptical. I'd like to manufacture some sort of holder for it while I search around for a vintage one--- probably by machining a form cutter to make a cone in Delrin. This led me to speculate about the original manufacture of vintage cones. I assume they were molded, then the facets were hand-polished?
Can any of you give me a hint?
    Thanks

BTW, to my eye this long, thin, plume-like Doric black desk pen is a magnificent object. It dances in the hand and wags its tail. Perhaps banks were subliminally inducing joy in their patrons as they filled out deposit slips.

Well, “technically” this thread is about their “manufacture”, and the one fred quoted was about their “shape”

    Technically…

OK then Fred "technically" referred the OP to his own previous post that was "almost the same."

They were not injection molded. They were turned from rods of celluloid or hard rubber. Facets, if any, were then cut and polished.

Thank you. That's an answer to the question I was asking. My previous post was not an inquiry into how they were made. I was asking then for the mechanical and hydraulic principles ( spelled that one right ) of the flute. I was thinking then to make a cap until a flute came along and wondered how they were meant to fit together. Perhaps I should have been more insightful about manufacturer. I don't see all that much evidence of molded pens, so I suppose it was a bit of a dump question. Forgive me; I'm still a bit lost and I can't remember ever having seen a desk pen holder.

From what Fred suggests it would seem that they were made like fountain pen caps are made. Turned on a lathe.

I typed in "Eversharp desk" on ebay.com and got a page of results many of which were quite expensive. However this one without it's pen has a very reasonable buy it now price. They are out there.

I suggest the OP post a photo of the pen. Helpful information would be:
    • size
    • material
    • color
    • pattern

A matching faceted tulip (perhaps with base) might be available today.
