Default MB 234 1/2 stuck piston

Any general advice as to things to try & how to proceed? I have removed the section.

Since you have it apart, I would upend it in a cup, fill the barrel with water with an eyedropper and let it soak for days before applying any force.

That was my idea, too. We’ll see how it goes in a few days.

An afterthought: During the soak, push the open end into a bulb syringe and squeeze the bulb to push water against the piston and hopefully through dried ink around its perimeter.

I had to check - the 234 1/2 has the telescoping piston. Be very gentle with trying to get it unstuck. If the clutch of the piston is damaged, you'll be into replacing the piston too. A good soak is a good idea here.....

Ron, the early 234 1/2s have the telescoping pistons. The later ones like mine don’t.

No luck on getting the piston to move up or down. I notice it does turn. The locking washer seems to be riding a bit high on the threads.

I was able to get the locknut off using a toothpick. The cork is still stuck.

Further progress: I picked out the cork with a toothpick. It was pretty easy because it was so punky. However, the piston still doesn't move. It appears there's a problem with the mechanism.
