Default Vintage Pelikan 100 - Piston needs repair

Good day folks !! Hope you are all well.

I'm monitoring an auction of the pen in the title and I have a question for you :-)

Whom would I send it to, in UK, to get the piston overhauled ?

    Thank you

    Marco

If it has to be UK I would start by asking Niche Pens or possibly The Writing Desk for advice on where to send it.

I don't know if Deb and Eachan might be able to restore a vintage Pelikan piston or if they might know who can.

Is there any information on the Pelikan site about recommended repairers?

I'm assuming the main problem will be getting the piston out without breaking the pen. If any non-UK expert on here can give you guidance on how to do that then the job might be a option you could consider yourself? I know at least three experts on here who repair Pelikans.

I'm no expert, but since I have done a couple of repair jobs on 100's, I can say that there were two different piston seals used in Pelikan 100 (cork and neoprene) the repairability depends on the model. Cork seals are easy to replace, plastic seals not, since there are no recommendable replacement parts available.

the piston rods are different and not interchangeable

Chrissy, Christof thank you very much your contribution. Unfortunately the pen inner details are not shown on auction page. The photos though are of the 'older' 100 and thus it should be cork? Which is easier to repair. Continental Europe is fine to get it repaired too, not USA though. Thank you

Although the piston rods are not interchangeable, the entire piston mechnism is. And that is why you never can be sure what you will find after disassembling a Pelikan 100...

There are lots of repair persons in Europe. For example

    Lutz Fiebig https://interpens.shop/de/
    Tom Westerich twesterich@gmail.com
    and others...

    Eric Wilson (eckiethump) in Edinburgh.
Plenty of experience with Pelikans and no need for European postage (which has got a bit tricky as of today, with the risk of having to pay VAT/duty on having our own things returned to us).

Easiest contact is probably a PM on FPN (where he's eckiethump)

It's a very straightforward job if it's just the cork. If it's the pen I think, it may well just need a good soak and a bit of silicone grease.

    Disclamer!!! *&^%$£@
You are not an expert ... but The informations you provided is unknown to some "Labelled expert " in some pen repair business.
So some repare person might be confused helpless to fix this pen when the google pen restoring emergency service is out of connection.
    You are amazing !!!!

    Thank you.

...that may be, but it certainly does not apply to the two gentlemen I recommended.

Thanks or that, I dip in and out of pen forums these days, but will be at the London Show this week end, happy to talk about all pen related topics. The major problem with vintage Pelikan 100's is when the barrel degrades, which with some it does spectacularly :-(
Happy to talk on issues and take on problem pens.
