    Default Hello from Maryland, USA

Hello, all, from the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

What a pleasure to see so many people so into fountain pens. I'm a writer and a translator, do a bit of teaching, and help run a literary center. I've been lurking here for a bit, and much appreciate the generosity of spirit in terms of sharing information and pictures.

I love vintage pens (my oldest are a Duofold Sr and a Ikaruga Safety Fountain Pen, both from the 1920s), and have a weird thing for unusual brands known for other things I also happen to like (an Elgin, an Underwood). I love new pens too, though--I've currently got ink in a Visconti Van Gogh, an Italix Parson's Essential, and a Franklin-Christoph Model 31 Omnis in antique glass.

I'm hoping to make the leap to a new urushi pen soon, and am currently reading up--many thanks for all the threads here that have helped get me started!

What part of the Eastern Shore. Long long ago, before the bridge, we used to take the ferry over for a day trip. Sometimes on the trip back we'd drive all the way up to Delaware and then back down to Baltimore.

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell.

Thanks! I live in Kennedyville and work in Chestertown. I've seen books about that ferry -- Baltimore<->Tolchester, right? Wish it was still going, as my girlfriend lives in Baltimore and I'm over there most weekends.

Oh, that's pretty country. We get over that way now and then.

    Awesome, thank you.
I haven't had the chance to come out your way since before the pandemic.
