Default Rohrer and Klingner sketchINK® Klara

    Rohrer and Klingner sketchINK® Klara

Another one of the water/lightproof sketchink series. Very difficult to scan and photograph.

Interestingly my bottle is quite difference from Chrissy’s review. . Mine is searing green/blue, that's hard on the eyes. I would use this ink mostly for editing and annotating.

I amused myself to a different type of the review.

    Dry time is moderate....
Personally I think this ink is best with fine/ ef nibs...

I've looked at the remains of my small sample again and it matches my review sheet very well so I had a look for any other reviews.

There is this one and the colour looks like my sample.

I leave my pens uncapped and nib down in a plastic glass containing wadded kitchen towel after cleaning and when filled I leave inks in my pen for a couple of days before writing my review. I wonder if it's possible your sample might have been slightly watered down from tiny remains of water inside your pen or pens after cleaning?

Also, I never had any problem cleaning these sketchINKS out of my pens just by using water. I didn't use any "pen cleaner" for cleaning.

Chrissy thanks for your comments. I don't have a sample, I have a full bottle.
It has been in the Varsity for more than year., the colour is still searing jade. Thanks for the link. I just filled a TWSBI stub with it. The colour looks almost the same, but more nuanced and easier on the eyes.

As for cleaning. I first wash out the excess ink with a gigantic syringe, then let the feed and section soak overnight, with a drop of detergent.
On some occasions, I have had the (un)pleasant surprise of a new sample being modified with the remains of the old ink (Super5 Australia the most recent, which is made my R&K)
So nowadays , I fill a sample vile with solution, let the feed soak, for safe measure and often have ink in the vial a few hours later.

And I dry my pens almost like you. My feeds are on the radiator in winters and under the fan in summer in a plastic goblet with paper towels, which drives my wife crazy...

I dare not leave pens or parts lying around anywhere as my OH would be straight on it and asking where it/they needed to go.
Sometimes there is the problem of ink remaining in the "other end" of the converter and it's such an annoyance when the converter doesn't come apart like Lamy ones do.
I'm not sure why I didn't buy a bottle of this ink. Probably because I have some similar colours. Montblanc Emerald springs to mind......

Glad to know I'm not alone.

    Yes, it could be maddening

I like the colour but more on a wall Though I guess in those grey, gloomy, cold January, February days, it'll be comforting. And it's waterproof. I'm tired of leaking shopping lists

Well, quite aside from anything else - what a great review!

Love the 'letter' format, love the different styles of writing. I'm not sure yet whether I love the ink - it might be just a step to far along the eye-searing path for me - but I do have moments of weakness in this area (I only have to look at my lime, pink and turquoise samples to confirm that).

I'm not sure it will be in my first batch of sketchinks, but have a feeling it will be joining me before very long...

Glad you like it. I try to have a structured approach, but some inks make their own demands

I am not sure if love is the appropriate word for this ink. It's a cheerful one....

I think you would like them as you're more into broads and stubs...

I think the colour looks much better in your photos at the end of your original post and maybe your scans are bleaching the paper images too white. You can see this when you compare the scanned image of Tomoe River versus the photo of it that looks much more creamy.

All I can say, is that this ink is not subtle. It screams, it has attitude.
I did a chroma.. not a spec of blue.

It looks like a typical viridian blue-green dye without additional blue or yellow.
