    I take notes while reading dense texts, too. My tools are Lamy 2000s, Lamy Al-Stars, Sheaffer Imperials & Parker 51s. Pilot Capless pens sound great, but i've had problems with the trap door not sealing completely. You end up having to fiddle with the thing, which defeats the purpose of the click mechanism.

    Sorry, on checking yes, it clicks. I had forgotten the Briarwood is the same , non-screwing. I don't have any drying out problems with the gathered, though.

    Preppy is quite good. It's cheap and you can eyedropper it.
    Kaweco Perkeos have a great seal also...

    I had a lot of problems with those drying out, too. They're frustratingly unreliable and require more maintenance than they merit.
