oh dear junglejim this sounds really poor and if it was my pen I would be getting really frustrated by now. I'm rather relieved that we don't have to deal with MJR here and that if we wish to contact Montblanc we can do so and they respond. By now I would be sending an email to someone higher up in the Montblanc administration.
(Re USPS mail - I hope you will receive your Autumn card without a long delay.)

I called MyJewelryRepair this afternoon to get the latest update on my Montblanc pen. I spoke to Liz after a relatively short (for them) wait of 4 minutes. She was able to tell me that my pen was shipped out by Fedex to Montblanc Hamburg on 13 September and the package was received on 20 September at 1100hrs. So MJR is now just waiting to hear from Montblanc and then they will contact me by email if I want to authorize the repair if there are any charges.

I do wonder if new owners of Montblanc Limited Edtion or Writer's Edition fountain pens that want a nib swap will have to go through the same type of wait?

Well here are the final charges MJR emailed me this morning for the Montblanc Pen Repair. They need it paid before repairs can be authorized:

    REPAIR_ITEM Germany Processing & Handling Other Part 1 N $100.00 (USD)
    REPAIR_ITEM Repair Service Other Part 1 N $139.70 (USD)
    TAX Tax Tax 1 N $20.97 (USD)
    SHIPPING SHIPPING Shipping 1 N $28.50 (USD)

    Total: $289.17 (USD)

So the actual repair of the pen by Montblanc Germany would come to $139.70 and the MJR charge to send it back from Hamburg Germany to MJR is $100 (Which is the same amount I had to pay to have MJR send it to Germany. Or maybe it is a charge for Montblanc to even look at the pen? It doesn't say.) The tax on the repair service + international shipping is $20.97 (works out to 8.75% which is CA sales tax) and the charge for shipping from MJR to my house is $28.50 for UPS 2nd Day with $700 insurance. (The itemization chart is a copy/paste from my email.) There is no estimate on how long this will take.

I spent about that much getting my M800 repaired and it didn't even get it's passport stamped.

I originally spent GBP350 to repair a crack in the section of my Virginia Woolf plus the boutique paid GBP65 for the cost of the level one service that they mistakenly quoted me for the repair. At least in my case the P&P was not mentioned separately if charged for. MJR certainly know how to charge for P&P.
