Default Mystery Ink #36 and #37

It was nice to see Scooby921 drop in to our last Mystery Ink series. For those who are new here, Scooby921 was the past host of Mystery Ink series #13 through #23 (August 2016-December 2018).

So is it time? Is it time for another round??? YES,YES,YES!! Mystery Ink is now open to FPG veterans, n00bs, newbies, and lurkers. You volunteer, I send free ink, you write with it and post your thoughts and observations. Guessing is welcome, but not required. There is nothing to "win" aside from perhaps personal satisfaction that you recognized it.

No guess is confirmed until the mystery ink is finally revealed. The point of the mystery ink threads is an unbiased review. Fear not about the quality of your handwriting or sketching abilities. We don't care. We are all appreciative of those with the gift of artistic ability, but how well you draw or write doesn't impact your ability to test an ink and provide your opinion on it.

I will act as the Procurer, Packer, and Post Office Porter. This ink flight will consist of 1 packet containing 2 inks, each vial filled with 3mls of Mystery Ink labeled MI-36 and MI-37. There will be 9 packets available and only 2 of the packets will be for overseas participants due to the high cost of postage( US$16.25/each ). If you are international, please let me know. If there are more sign-ups for overseas participants than slots, then I will run a Random Number Generator to pick.

The inks in this ink flight are dye based, not pigmented, no shimmer and not iron gall. I don’t use any of the Noodler’s Bay State inks, so there won’t be any in the ink flights I send out.

Post below if you would like to volunteer to receive a free ink flight. I'll leave this open until 12 Noon PDT Saturday August 21st.

Note: Packets sent to the UK generally arrive within 8 working days. To the EU it may take much longer.

Covid-19 Precautions -- I am now fully inoculated, but for everyone's safety [ especially with the Delta variant going on ] ink samples will be prepared using a face mask and gloves. Ink Packets will be put together with a face mask and freshly washed hands. ( Sorry, but it's impossible to use sticky tape with gloves on... )

Until then, please stay Safe and Healthy!

Disclosure- Chrissy will be participating, but there are still 2 international slots available. I had sent her a packet of some regular ink samples in July and included the 2 Mystery Inks to save some money on postage.
Bucket list - walk the Camino de Santiago again

The last mystery ink flight was fun, so I'd love to participate again! I'll have to compete for one of the international spots as I'm in Canada.

I haven't done the Mystery Ink for a while, I would love to participate again, if you have space for a US resident. But, if there is someone new, I would prefer to give them the opportunity.

    Good Afternoon!

The ink flight for MI#36 and 37 is now closed.

Could DrPenfection please PM me your name and address so I can prepare the ink packets? I already have everyone else's addresses.

I went to Random.org and used the list randomizer function and the results came out:

There were 2 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

Congratulations to Yazeh and our new participant, david-p!

International packets will go out on Tuesday 24 August.

    Thanks to all the participants!

Both International ink packets were mailed out this morning. I'll try to get the US ink flights out on Wednesday or Thursday.

My first choice for MI #36 had to be changed. It was a brand new bottle of ink ordered on 27 May 2021 specifically for Mystery Inks, since I liked the sample vial of it. The package arrived in June and I opened it in July to send a sample to Chrissy as MI#36 along with #37 and her other ink samples. Nothing unusual, until I opened it again on Sunday to prep all of the ink flights. There was a hiss, followed by a whiff of rotten eggs. SiTB!!! I sent a quick email to the online store to notify them of the problem. Lisa Vanness emailed back this morning " Yikes! I thought we caught most of them; I am sorry. You can email yafa directly for a replacement. Just let them know your information and address." So apparently another bad ink batch going around.

So MI #36 is now a completely different color from a completely different manufacturer. Mystery Ink #37 is still the same. I notified Chrissy and she graciously offered to sit out on reviewing MI #36 and will just do #37. Thanks Chrissy!

iCK! ICK! ICK! Glad that you got rid of it! As you know, I had to pitch a brand new bottle of another ink this weekend due to an SITB! And, I believe it was from a different manufacturer. I was thinking about my experience and I do remember that the lid had a slight bulge in it before I opened it. I am not wondering what would have happened if I hadn't caught it. It likely would have exploded all over my ink drawer. Ick! Ick! Ick!

    Thanks for catching that!

Thank you again for continuing this amazing opportunity, I'm real excited since it's been a while since I've done one, sadly the pen I used for every other one is down for the count so that kind of sucks, but I am real excited for the fun that is to come and how it brings us together to just have some good old fun

    Thanks
