    Default Last Sold Pen

What is the last pen you sold?
And, if you care to share, why did you sell it?
By type, the last pens I’ve sold are Italian celluloids. Admired more than used.

Recently I've sold a montegrappa, a Leonardo, a stipula, an Milim, a Marlen, and a few others.

    Just trying to downsize.

I sold my Montblanc 344 in lovely SilverRay celluloid to a very serious collector who is younger than me, and is likely to enjoy it for decades to come. It was featured in Sia's online Montblanc series.

    IMG_2076.JPG

The pen comes from my ray (or "chevron") celluloid collection of an international selection of pens made using the ray celluloid design created by John Hill, an Englishman who assigned his patent to the Celluloid Corporation of Newark. By no means was Waterman the only buyer of this interesting deco celluloid.

I am parsing out my mini-collection, mostly German but also American, Swiss, French and Italian, ranging from pre-war Aurora Optima SilverRay and a Soennecken Rheingold 616 BueRay down to a rare Wearever EmeraldRay prototype. There's even a Waterman 7 BP conversion by Carl Seidl in EmeraldRay!

Wow FredRydr, we have a similar collection - though you have got a much better one! Mine are mainly French, but not by any means only Watermans. I find that celluloid so appealing. What are the two desk pens? They're cute!

My last sold pen was a Petit Prince Parker vector set, with stationery. It was so cute, but I just couldn't bear to *use* the stationery, so it was easier to sell it and apply the funds to my next pen safari - where I found a gorgeous Stylomine 303 desk pen and still had some change :-)

Those are Waterman InkVues, both Type 1. PM me if there is anything you have an interest in.

I can't remember! Usually I donate them. But maybe the Rotring (Freeway?). It was all-metal, cold, heavy, uncomfortable to use. And someone really wanted it. Before that I think it was the Levenger Samba. Which was actually a Stipula. I loved the curvy shape and color (Coconut!); just couldn't write with it.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

I am in Australia, so find it difficult to sell or trade any of my pens. However, I recently reached out to Kirk Speer (Pen Realm) and he bought a bulk lot of my pens. The idea was to shift out the pens I'm not really reaching for, mostly various iterations of the Platinum 3776, Pilot Custom 74, Conklin Duragraph, etc which I bought in an initial enthusiasm for these models. I have retained some but sold the excess, and at the moment my focus is more on custom grinds (and resisting an urge to buy more and more Stipula pens!)

The last pen I sold was a Sailor King of Pen Fresca Blue. Sold it three weeks ago at the Columbus, Ohio Pen Show. Why did I sell it? Because I have too many fountain pens.

    Maybe you simply miscounted.

    Fun thread, @kazoolaw

I recently bought 5 pens for let's say X USD.
Sold two of them for the total of Y where Y < X.

And these are the remaining 3:

If I sold any one of these for Z, then we'll arrive at the state where Y + Z > X.

So according to my "fountain pen math", I can keep whichever two that will be left
See how we play games with our own mind in this hobby

”If I sold any of these…”
Time to declare a sales moratorium.

That's likely, Fred. I can reach 20 using fingers & toes. Lost after that.

You only need one at a time. Two to have a spare one.Three is already too late to stop buying more.

What is this "too many fountain pens" that you speak of?
