Default Removing dings from a Parker 51 cap

    Hi Guys

I have a Parker 51 Vacumatic on the way and one issue I know it has is a couple of small dings in the cap.

Anyone got any tips on what's the best way of removing them.

    Thanks

    Paul

Damage can be seen in this picture

I think the idea is you take the clutch and inner cap out, put the body on a dedicated mandrel, and roll out the dents.

I haven't used his services, but Daniel Kirchheimer's sitehttp://home.comcast.net/~kirchh/Pen_Restoration/ and articles are very impressive. The business about dressing the body where the inner cap can vent ink, and rotating the inner cap during later disassembly, all sound very thorough.

Then there is always the option of just going with the flow and hammer out the entire cap instead. Sort of like the one on the left (not my image):
