    Default silver-urushi inlay progress#2 (Rose Grooving, research log 9/5/21)

    [SIZE=5]hello guys,

    just now, i have succeeded in transfering image to my barrel.

    i tested grooving a Rose with leaves.

    each dot size is 0.3mm

    it is a real precision work, each hole individually grooved.

    in the next posting, i will fill these "dots" with silver urushi, to achieve smooth surface finishing.

    there's a lot of designs to try, such as various animals and insects, etc...

    Very nice! After filling in the dots will you apply a new coat of clear urushi over the whole pen? Or is that not necessary?

    probably fill in the grooves with silver urushi, then flat grinding + polishing to do flush finish
