Default KWZ to discontinue some of their Iron Gall inks

I posted this in the other place, but figured there were IG fans here who would like a heads up.

After seeing some posts on reddit, I emailed Konrad and Agnieszka for clarification about them killing some of the IG Blues. This was their response:

Yes, we plan to discontinue some of the iron gall inks. Among the Blues, we will leave IG Blue #1, #5 and IG Blue Black.

We still have a stock of #3 but once we run out if it, we will not manufacture more.

The changes are needed to make the palette more consistent and make a space for completely new inks.
She mentions #3 because that was my specific concern. It's my daily driver and I now know to stockpile a couple of bottles.
    Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

Thanks for letting me know. I've never tried their inks..... I doubt if I will do... I'll stick with Essri

I never found their ones I tried to have much IG in them; they easily washed off the page.

A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
    A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
    A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'

I can only speak to their blues, but it makes sense to think of them as on a sliding scale:

IG Blue Black - the most "traditional" IG ink in their line: good waterproof qualities balanced with being well behaved
IG Blue #1-#6 - 1 is closest to BB, but each integer moves further from the traditional IG to more dye: so less waterproofness and more vibrant colours, even after drying.

I think the Blue Black is a terrific IG, and really enjoy the Blue #3 as a good compromise between IG's permanence and a richer blue on the page.

The IG#3 is very pretty, and it was hard to choose between it and the more water-resistant Platinum Blue-Black, which, unfortunately, sheens red (I don't care for the red sheen; the only sheen I like (that I've experienced) is from Platinum Carbon Black).

I also have IG#1, which fades to what I call a nice "pastel" gray.

In the end*, I chose to keep only one pen with a contrast blue ink in it, Pilot Blue. It's just more contrasty to black ink. (The other contrast ink is the pink Sailor Shikiori Sakura-mori in a Pilot Falcon (SEF) -- a not-at-all water-resistant ink. So there's my caprice for ya!)

As said in the fpn thread, thanks for the heads-up! I'm considering whether I like IG#3 enough to buy one last bottle of it.

My only KWZI IG is gummiberry, but I have so many inks that it takes quite a while for its turn to come around. Think the one bottle is going to last a bit!
