The photography at the BBC link is amazing. But it is like going back at the time of Ansel Adams. Another planet. Another age. Another approach and especially it wasn't a mass hobby, only a limited number of persons could afford it.
With a phone today anybody can become an 'photographer' and social media is killing this art, everybody retouches their snaps without shame. Saturation, hue, colours are managed by apps all you do is aim and shoot. No fantasy anymore. Too bad. I have an old K1000 by Pentax, a digital Canon eos Rebel and a Nikon EM. Always kept at home as to carry around the camera bag is a a hassle. Don't have the drive anymore :-(
