    @Will
I also had a similar thought about Week 45: Layers. Great minds LOL. My OH saw it on the desk and thought it was a funny looking cake....

I hope I covered the rest, here.
Inspired by our mighty Catbert Rashomon and some other films, here is a take of all those weeks, I missed..

    Octopus P.O.V.
Yes, this is Sunset Boulevard, LA, five o'clock in the Homicide Squad, complete with detectives and newspaper men. An Octopus (me) has been shot dead in the of the swimming Pool, by Angel. All is fuzzy now. Maybe it’s the golden lights from those powerful cubes. The Newt, the head detective, under the glazed eyes of the cat and braves the tranquil waters, conquering them wave by wave. Is he leaking blood or is it ink, from his new fountain pen? It must be the golden lights…. Spooky! But before you jump to conclusions and before the news media, muddles the truth, let me tell you how it all happened…

    Angel P.OV
“How could it be that my reflection?” he mused, “It must be the swimming Pool… If the newt is brave enough to confront the octopus, breaking the waves and shattering the tranquil waters, my shadow will surely disintegrate. Why am I talking like a stuffy actor? Must be the spooky, powerful golden light from those cubes behind me. Maybe I am an actor with wings wired on to me or maybe I'm an Angel? Why is the newt leaking ink or is it peeing? That’s disgusting. It must be the cat’s fault. It’s always their fault,” he mused. “Cut” yelled the director.

    Cat P.O.V.
The cat coolly contemplated the octopus in the tranquil waters of the swimming Pool. It seemed improbable that it could be the fuzzy reflection of the angel standing in the doorway. Maybe it was the spooky play of the golden lights from those powerful cubes? As a safe measure, the he threw the newt, in the water, to brave the octopus by creating waves. Poor newt was leaking ink. The cat shook its head. Someone had spiked the kibble again….must be that darned mouse, who had messed up his Yin and Yang.....

Chrissy, what's even funnier is that I got the idea of the soil layers when I saw your cake layers

Apparently great minds not only think alike, but also help each other!

Summary of weeks 31 to 35.
Inspired by Yazeh, a couple of tranquil, vaguely pre-Raphaelite angels in a yin yang motif, embellished with a kind of Gothic doorway and window for light.

@ Catbert.. the last two sketches are absolutely exquisite. I was haunted by the pre-raphaelite angels, knowing that I 'd seen something like that before. Until I happened upon Alphonse Mucha's illustrations. Was he the source of your inspiration or was it divine providence?

You are too kind, Yazeh. Any resemblance to Mucha is a happy accident. I looked at some Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Gothic architecture for inspiration but they're beyond my ability.

Yup. Interested in the new mechanism but less keen on that two-step cap lip, which I completely failed to capture in the drawing.

Just in case anyone is wondering about the actual pen that catbert sketched:

(Of course I replaced the nib with a flex 14K vintage one, don't try to do this with your un-souped-up Magico )

    A storefront... of a shop.

This handsome pen has a very interesting cap top. I have never seen one like that especially from a US brand. Speaking of the brand, I have seen a few pens with Plymouth on the clip like this, but not one that is as cool-looking as this one.
