    Default A bouncy Platinum 3776

So I’ve been wanting to do one the EMF mods for a while. I really hated this nib so I figured if I ruined it the world would be a better place. I scalloped the wings, narrowed the tines, and thinned the tines slightly.
While you don’t get much line variation (you do get some) it dramatically changed the feel of the nib. This nib is so bouncy and cushiony. Maybe I’m biased because I did the work, but this could be one of the most enjoyable nibs I have now. I also smoothed the nib in a certain way that I’ve found makes it feel very similar to a Sailor. The combination of bounce and pencil like feedback makes this one of the most unique nibs I’ve used. It’s completely different from the platinum SF and those Nakaya elastic nibs.

Interesting... I bought a platinum SF out of hope and curiosity, but can't detect any difference from the regular F nib that I also have. I used to love Platinum but my current favorites are pilot soft and falcon nibs.

Yea people seem to be crazy about them, but they’re not for me. And not because they’re too stiff, firm nibs have their purpose, the grind just seemed… unfinished I guess is the word

Reading between the lines you have turned a Platinum nib into a Pelikan nib :-)

Did you use a Dremel for the scalloping? You have done a really nice job of it - the form goes very nicely with the heart shaped breather hole.

Same here, so far it's been a dissapointment
Very gritty nib, and never got it to be comfortable
Unix is user-friendly ; it's just picky about who it's friends are -

That's a very nice job you've made of the nib. I'm envious... but I don't really have enough confidence to let go on a gold nib.
