Sadly for you (but happily for me) they came out with the judicious application of alcohol, toothpaste, and shampoo.

    Doesn't everyone?

Why didn't I think of that?

Actually, as I said above, these are the most used inks in 2021. I use a lot of different colors. But I hardly think that my clients would appreciate my affinity for Yamabuki or Ooji Cherry. I can get away with most of the above, though. That's why they are used more than others.

Well, the big grin was there to let you know it was a light-hearted poke. Still, I went back and reread your intro and didn't see a specific mention that these were inks that had to pass muster with clients, which is certainly another element in play. Anyway, good to know you enjoy other parts of the spectra; life is too short to restrict one's choices.

Thanks Jon! Yes, I did catch your poke, and I took it in a light hearted fashion. You may find this interesting, but I have used really bright colors when writing notes or memos to clients upon occasion. I want to keep them "on their toes". I do have one client, however, who is a fountain pen user and uses only one ink - Montblanc JFK. I think he must have bought cases of the stuff before it was discontinued. He even gave me a bottle and told me that I can no write with "proper ink". I surprised him at one of meetings when I started writing with a Montblanc JFK fountain pen filled with JFK ink. I even let him write with it. He has since purchased both navy and burgundy models (I told him where to buy them). He still used JFK ink in both until I gave him a bottle of MB Antoine St. Exupery du Desert. Now he has two inks. Who knows? Maybe I will be him a Visconti Breeze in lime green with Birmingham Pen Company Parrot.

Love your thoughtful and detailed descriptions! I think MB Swan Illusion is one of my fave inks, but didn't use as much this year as I was trying out new samples.

I'll have to think about what I used most this year, but because I use bright inks for editing, Diamine Wild Strawberry is always a constant.

I use several bright oranges and pinks for editing. Sailor Irori is a great red - very bright and well behaved. Also Sailor Manyo Akebi is terrific too.

Thanks for this. I discovered BPC inks this past year too. Boiler Steam is my favorite--a beautiful wet saturated blue-green--but I also really like Violet Starling and Waterfront Dusk.

In 2021 I went into mourning for the demise of Blackstone inks (RIP). I'd been shying away from non-bombproof fp inks for some time, but those blue-greens in the Sydney Harbour and Barrier Reef blues spoke to me in a very special way. Once they became unobtainable, though, I cut the apron strings completely, and except for a few delicate vintage pens, I am now using only De Atramentis document inks in everything. I can blend any color I want with their cyan (turquoise), magenta (fuschia), yellow, black, and white document inks, (using CMYK color breakdowns, what printers use for "four color" full color printing). Besides my custom blends, I use black, blue, dark blue, and sepia a lot. The reason I've gone this route is because I've lost too many irreplaceable page of letters and literary efforts written in regular fountain pen ink due to the occasional spilled coffee or beer or just plain water. I'm always paranoid that a letter I've written in regular ink will get rained on and ruined. With vintage pens, though, I stick to Waterman inks, or Parker Quink, or non glitter Diamine inks (when I'm feeling reckless).

@calumus, I get you. I write only with waterproof inks too. Though I've gone mostly the Noodler's way.
With vintage I use IG inks.
You might want to look into Kakimori line. Pigment ink and very easy to clean...

    Thanks for the suggestion.

The De Atramentis document inks are a nano suspension in a clear fluid that is not water and has a different surface tension. This means that due to Brownian motion, the nanoparticles, which are very, very tiny, stay in suspension without settling and never clog. They can be used just like any well-behaved regular ink and don't require special maintenance. I'm beyond delighted with them.
