The White House Mess is a real mess. The trouble started in the Ward Room, an exclusive section of the White House Mess reserved for senior economic administration officials, including on Thursday night Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon.

“Mr. Bannon was eating apple pie, a big piece, and he was talking loud and chewing with his mouth open,” said a source, who requested anonymity because he feared for his life. “And Mr. Kushner was mumbling and shooting him dirty looks.”

Suddenly, cursing baroquely, a red-faced Bannon jumped to his feet and threw a fistful of dripping apple pie at Kushner … who adroitly jete’-ed out of the way.

Kushner then grabbed a mound of Beluga caviar from his copiously laden, golden platter and returned fire.

A direct hit, prompting Bannon to weep. For fifteen minutes.

Reportedly, when Trump heard about the weeping, the alt-right leader’s fate was sealed.

Turns out this wasn't so "fake" after all....

Who would even try to go through a metal detector and police checkpoint for a presidential event with any kind of weapon on them? Sure, thousands chose not to. But dozens, apparently, decided to give it a shot, and then had their weapons confiscated.

WTF has this country come to?

As you noted, the minority ruling the majority and calling it family values. We have Reagan to blame for making a value he never had and exploited it into votes.

When believers lived a quite and peaceful life, its much better. Evangelicals got this idea to make everyone into twice the son of hell as they are. It’s why the coach rammed something as personal as prayer into a movement. Maybe he thinks it will impress Jesus.

I’m pleased that some believers are recognizing mindfulness and being grounded. We cannot change the world nor should we. If you think an unborn is a person, don’t abort. Make that your position and raise the child even if it’s your grandchildren or other close relatives.

Making things laws for folks who don’t want them follow is “grasping at straws”.

There is no way that Ginni Thomas will agree to go in front of Liz Cheney.

CBS News: Ginni Thomas' attorney tells Jan. 6 committee he wants "better justification" before potential interview.

    Speaking of unhinged. . .

“You know, I don’t f-ing care that they have weapons,” Mr. Trump said in Ms. Hutchinson’s telling of the episode. “They’re not here to hurt me. Take the f-ing mags away. Let my people in. They can march to the Capitol from here. Let the people in. Take the f-ing mags away.”

The fact that he then told them to march to the Capitol, knowing they were armed, did not daunt him in the least, as far as she could tell.

He wanted to go with them and told the crowd that he would, even though advisers had pronounced it a phenomenally bad idea. “We’re going to get charged with every crime imaginable” if he headed to the Capitol, Mr. Cipollone had warned a few days earlier.

When Mr. Trump climbed into the armored presidential sport utility vehicle after his speech on the Ellipse, the Secret Service began to take him back to the White House, prompting him to erupt. “I’m the f-ing president. Take me up to the Capitol now,” he ordered.

I don't mind his swearing. Like me, he is uncouth in non-public talk with adults. I am more upset with his desire for weapons to be brought to the capitol. That's criminal shit.

From the Atlantic article posted by Ted.
"Some people confront these facts and see a stone-cold political criminal. I see a lazy bastard who could not believe his luck—that he had yet again managed to get others to do what he dared not do himself."

This caused me to remember early in 2020 when Trump was trying to assure Americans that COVID-19 was just the flu. Anyone that got in his way was belittled. The same were belittled here by some members. Trump didn't care who died or who got saved. The stock market, which was never his influence, was tanking as was his reputation as a leader. I remember reading about dying people, followers of Trump. screaming that COVID wasn't real.

Some of the Trumpians are strangely quite now. That said, he has a good chance of winning re-election. My HS chemistry teacher love to say, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me".

He drew a contrast, not a parallel. Other other coup leaders were mentioned also. His point is that Trump did all he could to put the agency and personal risk onto others, unlike some other anti-democratic leaders in history. Although it does appear that he really wanted to go to the Capitol on January 6 or January 7. I wonder if he did not pardon Meadows and others so that the DOJ would have people other than himself to go after (you know, like pushing others forward when the cops line you up).

Granting pardons to those who did what he asked would be to admit that what he asked them to do was criminal.

    No way he'd admit that.

I have read that the practice is to go after the underlings to get to the top. Trump is toast even though he might win the next election. Like I said, fool me twice, shame on me.

I am reading where at least one pundit who thinks Trump served as a host body for overturning Roe v Wade and that now they are moving on. What appeal would a Trump be now days? The ruling may have slammed the door on Trump and opened it for others.

When it becomes politically expedient, he will be charged. I agree that much care must be applied because of his cult like following.
