"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice". I'll bet his life has been hell.

It is fear that caused January 6th. We've all known what it means to be afraid and perhaps the anger that it generates. It is fear of the Hispanic immigrant that makes us want a wall. It was fear of the free slave that caused Jim Crow.

Some politicians know this better than me. They use fear to get their power. Anyone who reads history knows what is occurring has occurred before. Thousands are ruined because they were afraid of diversity.

We Americans need to be optimistic. We'll get through this, and our experiences will make us stronger. Believing the demagogues is easy and dangerous. It takes courage to move on, to think differently.

Shocking video of the most horrific attack on America since 9/11 and Pearl Harbor. See how these insurrectionists, following the orders of twice impeached Donald Trump, cowed capitol police.

I think each of them deserves many years in federal prison.

Congressman Jamaal Bowman pulled a fire alarm in the Capitol - a misdemeanor - disrupting a house vote.

He should be charged and sentenced to 20 years for obstructing Congress, right?

Trump offered to go to jail to save democracy.

    Exactly.

Interesting interview of an author writing about the citizen sleuths tracking down Jan 6 criminals. Heartworming to hear about so many rank and file citizens showing that they care about the orderly process of democracy and transfer of power: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU9MEhRZjME

I guess that's how they got Ray Epps.

Seems to be a slow process.

I wonder how many of those Palestinian "insurrectionists" will get 20 year sentences.

I just read that the DOJ has filed notice of appeal for some of the seditious conspiracy conviction sentences. One presumes, to lengthen those sentences. Unusual occurrence.

    Not unusual at all.

I’ll take “fascist show trials” for $600, Alex.

The question is, when will Chesebro flip. The Kraken Queen flipped the day before her trial (not unusual). October 23 is the start for Chesebro. He has rejected a plea deal already....can he actually hold out now? We'll see. He's likely now to get an even worse offer than the one he turned down. IMO.

They may have flipped. It makes for an interesting narrative.

They may just be good lawyers and plea to avoid costly courtroom drama. 6 months probation and $9,000 restitution? For seditious conspiracy or “racketeering” to steal an election, or however the story goes?

Here’s a different narrative. Powell beat them down to a slap on the wrist so they could score a minor narrative win in a sea of political disaster. How many felony charges did she plea to? They weren’t dropped, were they?

Clearly they are going to milk it for all its worth.

I wonder who the Dem candidate will be in 2024.

Could also be that they realize the weaponization of the DOJ and crazed Obama appointees on the Bench have reached a fever pitch with their brazen abuse of power and nuclear-like passion for retaliation.

They are well advised to plead to the best deal they can cut and hold their breath until some semblance of sanity returns whereupon they will receive their well deserved pardons.

Yes, that’s all part of the cost calculus.

The Dominion suits haven’t even started discovery. They’re not about to open their proprietary software to scrutiny. It’ll be settled. Fox just had deep enough pockets to walk away, just like CNN did with the Nicholas Sandman kid.

Those narratives are boring and more in line with mundane realities though.

    swoosh

the sound of Chesebro and his lawyer zooming into court to agree to his plea, the last weekday before the start of his trial (October 20, 2023)

the process (I'm watching it now) is thorough, and devastating in its particularity and accessions by the defendent to the "guilt" he acknowledges of his criminal actions
