For whatever reason, my chromas came out a little weak. Even when I wiped 40 on a tissue, it looked better, but 41 broke into the most amazing array. 41 seems mostly single-dye component.

I keep asking myself why my scans are blurry. I tried taking photos but have the same problem.

Thanks, junglejim, for the Mystery Inks!

Just a quick sketch of MI #41 - more to come

There is a small amount of red sheen on the edges of scan - it is seen better on TR paper.

It's been quite a hectic week so I'm a little behind on getting some different testing behind though I have been writing with 40 through the week getting more thoughts on the ink. Here is my normal super cheap mead five star paper test. Hope everybody is having a wonderful Sunday

    Mystery #41

Ink is so wet and lubricated. Would my limited knowledge of Japanese inks... I would say it's either a Sailor or a Pilot...
Ink is silky smooth, well lubricated.

A small drawing on Water colour paper.. Ink reacts to bleach...

A little drawing with wash/ bleach play with 41 on water colour paper...

Ink is very different. Doesn't shade. I like the colour. It is bright and cheerful. Unlike 40, which reminds me of deep complex, rich ink....

I am by far no artist, I've always wished I could draw. I've always been embarrassed to post any art I've tried with mystery inks but I used a lot of my ink to try to make this semi decent. But it was also quite tricky using a q-tip as my brush haha. I was trying to make a burst pattern like on my es-335 by doing the perimeter with just ink than l slowly diluted it with water to try to make it lighter as it went inward but it didn't work like I wanted and the pink that I saw with my chroma kind of started coming through as I used more water.

Anyway hope you all enjoy and hope every one is having a good day

    Thanks

Thank you very much, I always wanted a guitar like B.B. King and at first I was going to get a black one just like his than a couple years ago they came out with a few special editions and once I saw it I had to have it. It's not my most expensive or best quality but it sounds great and it's a joy to look at.

@mreeveshp, not bad at all. If you want to seee bad drawing come and check mine on the inktober thread.
The whole idea is doing it... we might suck at it but with time, we'll improve.
I was recommended Drawing by the right side of the brain. The art of seeing..
Others might go more a hands on method, of technique.
Sketching often helps me to focus and stop the critical left side.... I wish I could draw virtually, with my left hand, when I'm writing. That would be heaven...

    Excellent recommendation Yazeh!

Drawing by the right side of the brain. - great book! I went through it several years ago and it really helped me improve how I see things and how I sketch them. It also helped me practice. I have since lost much of it because I do not sketch enough now. But when I take the time and really focus I surprise myself. I do not have the artistic talent like others in my family, but I do enjoy tapping into my creative side. That is why I think I love fountain pens and ink so much.

I'll definitely have to check out that book.

I know drawing is going to be like playing guitar, shooting or re-learning cursive, I just got to practice. Honestly I'm kind of proud I got past the nerves and actually posted it. I know I probably won't ever be like Dali, Van Gogh, or munch, I'd just be happy being able to draw something and people be able to recognize it.

    Thanks

I think I still have that book. One of my art teachers used to make us draw without looking at the paper or lifting pencil from paper. There's a term for it but I forgot. 😅

Here's my chroma for 41, it looks like a nice color (especially after seeing the writing sample chrissy posted) and it looks more monochromatic than the chroma for 40

Funny @Chrissy, I find the ink lacking lubrication compared to 40. But the shading is massive with a broad/ stub nib

I was kind of confused by that at first because I let the end of the filter soak longer than normal so I didn't know if that caused the grey color but than I did another to see if I got the same results and I did. Pretty neat none the less. I think the chroma for 40 looks better but I like the color of 41 better
