Based on your recommendation, I just ordered a bottle of Scribe Indigo. Further research revealed a Reddit post saying S.I. was formulated by the same gentleman who formulated the Parker Penman Sapphire (which alas is no longer made)

Going to try Diamine Blue Velvet. Brings to mind the Bobby Vinton song from my younger days.
I'm sure you will be very happy with Scribe Indigo and Diamine Blue Velvet. Yes the Scribe inks are made by the same man who formulated the Parker Penman inks he was a guest at a Lone Star Pen club meet where he told us all about that part of his life and then making Scribe inks. It was really interesting to listen to him.

Bob, I think you will be happy with Scribe Indigo. It has become one of my favorite blues. And as the proud owner of almost 100 blue inks (its my favorite color), that is a high recommendation.

While some of Noodler's are excellent, any of the Baystate's are difficult inks, My first encounter left a blue smudge on my hands that lasted a long, long, long time. But, I did have good luck with Liberty's Elysium (through Goulet Pens).

While there are many - especially now - very saturated, high sheening blues out there, including Akkerman Shocking Blue, Taccia AO Blue and many others - I prefer less saturated, more shading inks. The character I look for most in any ink is color of course, then shading, then wetness. Permanence is not a big concern of mine at this time.

Thank you, Doctor, for your thoughts. I'm looking for something that will "pop" or jump off the paper like BSD does, yet not damage a pen.

It was recorded by Mark Goode, the Chairman of the Lone Star Pen Club, and it's possible it may still be available. I will ask him.

Here is Diamine Blue Velvet, compared with Baystate Blue, Éclat de Saphir, Asa-gao, and Scribe Indigo.

Éclat de Saphir cartridges with a Montblanc 145 Bold nib in a teNues notebook purchased at Paris stationer Mélodies Graphiques. I numbered the pages with Noodler's Rachmaninoff before leaving for Paris.

To me, Éclat de Saphir, Edelstein Sapphire, and Asa-gao are brighter than the others I tried. The French word

If you're going for the bright and bold, Éclat de Spahir and Edelstein Sapphire are the best.
Blue Velvet and Scribe indigo seem rather dull in comparison.

    Did you try Diamine Sapphire?

Thank you, Yazeh, and I would be happy to see how they compare.

Although I love Baystate Blue and it is a truer blue than Éclat de Saphir and Edestein Sapphire, it can stain pens and damage seals, etc. So the two bottles of BSB that I have will be used only in two pens that I flush once a week.

    Diamine Sapphire BSB.jpeg

The two at the left are BSD one with a calligraphy nib 1.5
The other wide a Jinhao 450. The Jinhao has been inked steadily for 3 years with BSB. The ink is more saturated as I haven't used it for a while. The nib is medium and I had to prime the nib.
The Sapphire is written with a nib creaper.
It looks quite bright in the scan but it is actually quite dull compared with. I'll see if I can take a photo tomorrow.....

I've never had any issues with BSB on my pens. However, I seldom use it as I dislike its UV fading from EYE POPPING to just basic blue.

I've never seen a true representation of it in an image.

Here's my best effort at a comparison between Diamine Sapphire and Noodler's Baystate Blue. Scanned at very high resolution using my Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner and corrected under daylight conditions to exactly match the writing.
    Full hazmat conditions observed.

Diamine Sapphire is more purple and less concentrated than Noodler's Baystate Blue. I don't have any Pelikan Edelstein Sapphire Blue only Topaz Blue.

Thanks for the comparison, Chrissy. The Diamine Sapphire Blue looks similar to Edelstein Sapphire.

A few more not yet mentioned yet: Colorverse Quasar is bright and saturated, though a darker tone than some. And Organics Studio Nitrogen pops as well, though with a reddish sheen that might not be to everyone's taste.

Edited to add Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue as another possibility.
