Can any of the knowledgeable folk on this forum tell me if a Bakelite inkwell should have a glass or ceramic liner or is it ok to put the ink directly into the Bakelite reservoir?
Thank you

More details are needed, either a description or photos, to elicit a meaningful reply.
I was sure I'd answered this.
Bakelite is completely waterproof, and generally doesn't stain too badly either, so I can't think of any reason you shouldn't use it directly - some vintage 'travel' style inkwells were designed to be used in just this way.
They are also seen with glass liners, either just to the base, or for travel versions as a complete bottle.

Many thanks for the replies.
Either glass or ceramic liners.
Almost all inkwells use and need liners, it makes it easier to clean....even if bakelite.
Even glass inkwells need liners, there glass would be best. For marble or brass ceramic could be uses............they seem much much cheaper.
Fred dropped some good info on that; two places to find on Ebay.
Porcelain: https://www.ebay.com/itm/112396427327
Glass: https://facetsglass.co.uk (or the same via eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/362966765040)
They explain how to measure for the correct size.
