You're right it isn't. Also as far as drawing inks are concerned, Sumi ink isn't as black as India ink. Sumi ink vs India ink

This is quite an interesting Video about the science of Black Ink.
Whatever the ink is black it's opacity and the light absorbs-on quality varies on paper to paper that is used.
To my understanding if you use one chosen black ink on <<different papers >> your writing or drawing looks different with luminosity I guess.
Different ink too has varied opacity in their pigments to react with Paper fibres so they reflect light back as " black" to "very black "or to "very very very black "
While that Noodlers Black is one of my all time favorite inks and color (or lack of color) that video had nothing to do with color. It only demonstrated the ink's opacity and low-feathering properties. A white latex paint would show the same results.... not that I'd use paint in a pen.

M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'

I think this that films is to talk how the opacity in any ink, light transfer and bleeding etc. ( Nathan shows it with his black ink) It is Nothing to do with the COLOUR. and I am not talking about colours on above post...????. But colours also act differently to light transfer too I believe.
Here we are talking about Black ink and quality of different black ink will give different reading on that light meter he uses.

I don't argue with experts and I don't have that skills and ~I never want it too.... so I
He doesn't show the reflectance of the ink. The color we see is based on the light that is reflected off of the front of the page. He's showing what light is passed through a saturated piece of paper.

Don't tell me there are flat black, semi-flat black and glossy black fountain pen inks!
