    What is the blackest of black inks out there? I think I know the answer- but was wondering what the consensus is.

    As Yazeh says do an advanced search and you will find many threads. I tried :blackest ink and this recent thread came up.

    (@Yazeh - in order to paste your complete search results from post 2: when pasting the URL of the link into the Link box you need to remove the "s" from https:// It auto completes as http:// in the URL box but that always gets overwritten when pasting the link. FPG doesn't use secure links in all scenarios.)

    @Chrissy thanks.

    @NathanHale... the first question is do want the black to be waterproof/ resistant. If you don't care, the consensus is Aurora black/ Perle Noir (I haven't tried them, so I don't know).
    If you want a waterproof ink, De Atramentis document black is recommended.
    I once tested 3 Noodler's blacks: Heart of Darkness/ X- Feather and Polar Black. Polar black was the blackest. But Polar inks can be a pain for some. (Not for me, I have two pens permanently inked with them)

    Your best bet, is buy a bunch of samples, and test them in your pens.

    You can use this tool:

    https://andersonpens.com/ink-tool/

    Note that differences become more visible with wider nibs. And if you don't write side by side, you won't see the difference

    Not certain, but on a stub I find Sailor Kiwa-Guro to be very very dark!

    Buy pigmented "India ink" from an art supply store for a perfectly black experience, but never put it in your fountain pens! Use a drawing pen or dip pen. There is one fountain pen that is supposed to handle pigmented ink with aplomb: the Indigraph. Their website states, "IndiGraph allows the use of Indian inks. What’s special about this? While using this type of ink, when the ink dries, a waterproof film of shellac is created which protects the drawing from water, making it ideal for working with watercolours or inking comics, among other graphic arts." One of these days, I'll try one.

    It's pretty generic stuff, so when I ask for drawing ink, I end up getting generic India ink. Out of curiosity, I did buy some R&K's drawing ink, but I found no advantage. Here's what's in my ink box that never goes into my fountain pens:

    Deionized

    If you're flushing BSB, you should use D2O.

    I also used once a German IG Ink, Bach's Dip pen ink. I was surprised how the ink, turned from sky blue to a shiny black!
