It's great to hear that people are getting theirs without leaks, I can't wait to see how interesting these 3! Inks are. My tracking is still saying "status not available" so it will just be a pleasant surprise when it arrives and hopefully package dry. I'm especially excited for this MI since we have an extra ink to play with thanks to the extreme generosity of junglejim

    Thanks

All of the US Ink Flights have been delivered. The International Packets are still enroute. I would kindly ask that people wait to post their impressions until ALL of the Ink Flights have reached their destinations.

    Many thanks.

I've done my first testing of all 3 inks on Tomoe River 52gsm paper in my Seven Seas Writer notebook. I rate MI#43 3rd and MI#44 and MI#42 joint 1st because I couldn't decide between the greenish teal and the scented yellow ink.

I didn't get any sign at all of dirty yellow that Fred saw and fear he may have had a trace of something left in the pen as he suspected.

When I was writing my letters using my TWSBI filled with MI#42 Green/teal I found it quite paper surface dependant and it was one of those inks that needed a guard underneath my hand for it to write exactly the same down a whole A4 sized sheet of paper.

    Thanks JJ for these samples.
It's great feeling when one prepares the swatches.

I really love the colour of 42. It's the right teal.
    The chroma is beautiful.

    42 -43.jpeg

I was expecting a complex grey for 43, but was a diluted black. I like the colour..

    43.jpeg

The yellow/ orange ink reminds me of steeped saffron. After reading Sailor's post, I smelled the chroma and indeed it's vanilla

    My chroma tests

#42 looks like other inks I've done chroma tests on that go from grey to green to a little bit of nice blue, but the ink is a very nice green on paper.

#43 to my eyes looks like a very light purple with grey or light black

#44 is interesting, a very nice golden yellow and bright orange, I can't wait to write with this one to see how it looks to my eyes.

Writing tests to come soon I might have to clean out my noodler Charlie so I'm not just using my lamy though it has been my test pen since my Aurora died. And I'm probably going to ink up a metropolitan with a stub nib (which was very graciously gifted to Mr and have never used a stub so that might be interesting) just to see how the shading is

    Thanks

Mystery ink 42 on staples M series paper, I have some other paper that I want to try but this was always the paper that I would start my tests on and it's paper that I write on every day so I know it well. Hope every one is having fun with these inks and having a great weekend.

James, thank you again for graciously hosting this for us.

    Inks, inks, inks!

Nice night for some inky fun. I tested these on different papers, and I'm probably not done yet!

Soft paper made in India, dollar-store purchase:

    Rhodia Grid Pad:

    New-to-me Cosmo Air Light paper:

    The hastily-done paper towel chromas:

These three inks look a bit different on each paper type. As far as I can tell in un-natural light, they might all shade a bit?....

    Having fun with these.

    Thanks so much, junglejim!

I've written with these three inks again on Clairefontaine 90gsm paper in my 1951 Clothbound Notebook from Amazon.

They are all still performing well although IMHO MI#43 still seems to feel like the least lubricated and driest of them.

I did a water test on all three. I held them under running water for 10 seconds.
Surprisingly they all have decent water resistance:

Left side was held under water:
    Water test.jpeg

Dry time is long with all three inks.
42 - Wet medium nib (Jinhao)
    43 - Wingsug 3013
    44- Lamy Safari Medium

    Drytime 1.jpeg

I did a writing sample of 43/44. Unlike Chrissy, 44 was dry. It's like writing with chalk/nail on blackboard, minus the sound
43 was decent. I still have to do a writing sample of 42, but like Fred, I detected a hint of dryness/ lack of lubrication. But the Jinhao is wet pen, so it's alright.
